A Punching Operator is responsible for operating manual, hydraulic, or CNC punching machines to cut, shape, and form sheet metal components as per technical drawings and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Operate punching machines (CNC turret punch / hydraulic punch press)

Read and interpret engineering drawings and job orders

Set up tools, dies, and machine parameters based on material and design

Load and align sheet metal accurately on the machine

Perform punching, blanking, nibbling, and forming operations

Inspect finished parts for dimensions, burrs, and defects

Maintain production output as per targets

Perform basic machine maintenance and cleaning

Follow safety procedures and wear PPE at all times

Report machine faults or quality issues to supervisor

Required Skills

Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes

Ability to read technical drawings and tolerances





Basic understanding of CNC machine operation (if applicable)

Positive measuring skills (vernier caliper, micrometer, etc.)

Attention to detail and accuracy

Basic troubleshooting of machine issues

Qualifications

ITI / Diploma in Mechanical or related field preferred

Experience: 1–3 years in sheet metal or fabrication industry (varies by company)

CNC turret punch press / hydraulic punching machine

Dies and punch tools

Measuring instruments (vernier, scale, gauge tools)

Work Environment

Factory / fabrication shop workplace

May involve standing for long hours and handling heavy metal sheets

Exposure to noise, oil, and machinery (PPE required)

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
