Key Responsibilities
Prepare metal samples for metallurgical examination (cutting, mounting, grinding, polishing, and etching).
Perform microstructure and macrostructure analysis using metallurgical microscopes.
Conduct hardness testing (Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers, or Microhardness).
Perform mechanical and physical property testing as per applicable standards.
Verify heat treatment results and maintain related records.
Carry out incoming material inspection and finished product verification.
Record test results and prepare inspection reports.
Identify material defects and report non-conformities.
Ensure calibration and proper maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety rules, and 5S practices.
Coordinate with Production, Quality, and Stores for material testing requirements.
Assist in root cause analysis for quality issues and implement corrective actions.
Maintain laboratory housekeeping and documentation.
