We're Hiring: Combustion & Thermal Systems Engineer
Full time | Core team
LAT Aerospace | Gas Turbine Engines
At LAT Aerospace, we’re building India’s first clean-sheet hybrid-electric STOL aircraft and a
next-generation family of gas-turbine engines. We’re looking for an engineer who can take
ownership of combustor design, reacting-flow analysis, and thermal behaviour across the
hot-section: covering design, CFD, rig testing, and performance evaluation.
What you’ll do
Combustor Architecture & Flow Design – Develop combustor layouts, define swirler/injector concepts, and shape primary, secondary, and dilution zones.
Reacting-Flow CFD – Run and interpret steady/reacting CFD to predict flame structure, mixing, pressure loss, temperature fields, and combustor exit profiles.
Thermal Profiling & Pattern Factor Control – Analyse combustor exit temperature distributions, tune pattern factor , and ensure turbine inlet conditions meet performance and life requirements.
Metal Temperature & Heat-Load Assessment – Estimate metal temperatures using heat transfer correlations, flow distributions, and material limits in collaboration with turbine and materials teams.
Experimental Testing – Conduct combustor and flame-tube tests, oversee instrumentation, analyse data, and correlate test results with CFD/analytical predictions.
What we're looking for
Master’s degree in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering with focus on combustion, aerodynamics, or thermal sciences.
3+ years of experience in gas turbine combustion design, analysis, or testing.
Solid understanding of combustion physics, flame stability, mixing, ignition, emissions, and combustor aerodynamics.
Advanced proficiency in reacting-flow CFD (Fluent or similar).
Experience in designing the combustion test rigs, instrumentation, data acquisition, and test–CFD correlation.
Robust analytical foundation in heat transfer , compressible flow, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
Proficient in using CAD software (NX or equivalent).
Programming experience for automation and data processing.
Why LAT?
Core team opportunity at a high-conviction deep-tech startup.
Build India’s next-generation GTEs - the kind that India has never seen before.
Work in an setting where hardware development moves fast, ownership is high, and engineering matters.
