Job Description Chartered Accountant Family Office
/n Position: Chartered Accountant (CA) Family Office
/n Location: Kolkata, West Bengal (full-time, on-site)
/n Reports to: Family Office CFO / Principals
/n Experience: 3-7 years post-qualification (NBFC / family office exposure preferred)
/n Compensation: Commensurate with experience (to be discussed)
/n About the Family Office
/n A single-family office managing the financial affairs of a six-member . The portfolio under management includes: /n /n A corpus of approximately 500 crore under active management.
/n An RBI-registered NBFC.
/n Equity shareholdings held across individual family members' accounts.
/n Investments in real estate projects.
/n /n The role sits at the center of the family's finance function, spanning the accounts of the family members, the NBFC, and the real estate ventures. Given the scale (29+ bank accounts across entities and individuals), accuracy, discretion, and ownership are essential.
/n Role Summary
/n The CA will be responsible for end-to-end accounting, reconciliation, taxation, and regulatory compliance across all family entities and individual accounts. This includes routine book-keeping oversight, direct and indirect tax computation and payment, RBI/NBFC compliance for NBFC and monthly closing and net-worth reporting for the real estate entities.
The candidate will work closely with the family's external tax advisor.
/n Key Responsibilities
/n 1. Family & Consolidated Accounting
/n /n Prepare Bank Reconciliation Statements (BRS) for all 29 bank accounts on a regular cycle.
/n Prepare the consolidated Profit & Loss account across all accounts and entities.
/n Prepare Capital Gains statements for all accounts (equity, mutual funds, and other assets).
/n Prepare Cash Flow statements for all accounts.
/n Maintain details of interest received on savings accounts.
/n Pass closing entries salary provisions, interest accruals, and related adjustments.
/n Maintain monthly Loans & Advances schedules.
/n /n 2. Direct & Indirect Taxation
/n /n Compute TDS liability and ensure timely payment of tax.
/n Prepare Advance Tax calculations for NBFC and for individual family members.
/n Verify Advance Tax workings received from the external tax consultant.
/n Create challans and execute Advance Tax payments for NBFC and individuals.
/n Perform GSTR-2B reconciliation with books of account for NBFC.
/n /n 3. NBFC & Regulatory.
/n /n Prepare provisional Interest Receivable and Interest Payable workings for FY 2026-27.
/n Prepare the RBI quarterly Cash Flow Statement, updated every 15 days.
/n Perform the CIC checklist reconciliation on a weekly basis.
/n Support statutory and RBI-related filings, audits, and information requests for the NBFC.
/n /n 4. Real Estate Entities
/n Projects: /n /n Bank Reconciliation Statements.
/n Trial balance scrutiny and finalization of accounts.
/n Cash Flow Statements.
/n Invoice checking and verification.
/n Monthly net-worth closing.
/n /n Candidate Profile
/n Qualifications
/n /n Qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAI). First-attempt or early-attempt pass preferred but not essential.
/n Working knowledge of the Income-tax Act (TDS, Advance Tax, capital gains), GST (returns and 2B reconciliation), and Companies Act compliance.
/n Familiarity with RBI regulations applicable to NBFCs / Core Investment Companies is a strong advantage.
/n /n Experience
/n /n 37 years of post-qualification experience in accounting, taxation, and compliance.
/n Prior experience with an NBFC, family office, investment company, or a CA firm handling HNI / promoter-family clients is highly preferred.
/n Hands-on experience finalizing books, scrutinizing trial balances, and managing multi-entity, multi-bank reconciliations.
/n Exposure to real estate project accounting is an added advantage.
/n /n Skills
/n /n Advanced proficiency in Tally / accounting ERP and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, reconciliation workflows).
/n Comfort with the Income Tax and GST portals challan creation, return data, TRACES, and GSTR-2B downloads.
/n Solid grasp of bank reconciliation at scale and of investment / capital gains accounting.
/n Ability to prepare clear MIS: cash flow, net worth, and consolidated P&L; reporting.
/n /n Personal Attributes

/n Explicit communication with family members, external consultants, bankers, and auditors.
/n /n Screening Notes for HR
/n /n Must-haves: CA qualification; hands-on TDS/Advance Tax and GSTR-2B reconciliation experience; multi-account BRS experience; strong Excel and Tally.
/n Strong positives: NBFC / CIC or family-office background; RBI reporting exposure; real estate accounting.
/n Suggested screening questions: walk through your monthly closing process; how do you handle a GSTR-2B mismatch; explain Advance Tax instalment due dates and interest under sections 234B/234C; describe an RBI return you have prepared.
/n Reference checks should specifically cover integrity and confidentiality.
