Job description:

Key Responsibilities

Accounting & Financial Management

- Prepare and maintain books of accounts, including ledgers, journals, and vouchers
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and balance sheets
- Ensure accurate recording of income, expenses, grants, and donations
- Monitor budgets and track project-wise expenditures

Taxation & Compliance

- File all applicable tax returns on time (Income Tax, TDS, GST if applicable, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with NGO-related laws and regulations (e.g., Trust Act, Society Act, Section 12A/80G, FCRA if applicable)
- Coordinate with auditors for statutory and internal audits
- Handle notices and correspondence with tax authorities

Physical & Financial Record Management

- Maintain proper physical records such as vouchers, bills, contracts, grant agreements, and statutory documents
- Maintain organized financial documentation for audits, donors, and regulatory bodies
- Ensure proper filing and safe custody of financial and legal records

Donor & Grant Management

- Track donor funds and grants as per approved budgets
- Prepare utilization certificates and financial reports for donors
- Ensure funds are used in compliance with donor guidelines

Internal Controls & Reporting

- Implement and maintain strong internal financial controls
- Provide regular financial reports to management
- Support decision-making with accurate financial data

Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting,



Finance, or Commerce (CA / CMA preferred)
- Minimum [X] years of experience in accounting, preferably in an NGO or nonprofit sector
- Strong knowledge of taxation and statutory compliance
- Experience in preparing balance sheets and handling audits

Skills & Competencies

- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and tax laws
- Proficiency in accounting software (Tally, Excel, or similar tools)
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to maintain both physical and digital records systematically
- Robust organizational and communication skills
- Integrity, confidentiality, and ethical conduct

Preferred Attributes

- Experience working with donor-funded projects
- Familiarity with NGO compliance and reporting requirements
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
