Car Mechanic / Automotive Technician

Job Summary

The Car Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining customer vehicles to ensure safety, reliability, and customer satisfaction. The mechanic must follow manufacturer guidelines, use workshop tools correctly, and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Key ResponsibilitiesVehicle Inspection & Diagnosis

- Perform complete vehicle inspections.
- Diagnose engine, transmission, suspension, steering, braking, and electrical problems.
- Use diagnostic scanners and testing equipment to identify faults.
- Explain technical findings to the Service Advisor when required.

Repair & Maintenance

- Perform scheduled vehicle services.
- Change engine oil, oil filters, air filters, fuel filters, and cabin filters.
- Replace brake pads, brake discs, brake shoes, and brake fluids.
- Repair suspension and steering systems.
- Repair cooling systems including radiator, water pump, and thermostat.
- Repair engine and transmission components.
- Perform clutch replacements and gearbox repairs.
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems.
- Replace batteries, alternators, starters, and wiring components.
- Carry out A/C inspection and basic repairs.

Vehicle Testing

- Conduct road tests before and after repairs.
- Verify that all repairs have been completed correctly.
- Ensure the vehicle is safe before delivery.

Workshop Duties

- Maintain workshop cleanliness.
- Keep tools and equipment in good condition.
- Follow safety procedures.
- Record work completed on job cards.
- Inform the Service Advisor of any additional repairs required.
- Return unused spare parts properly.





Customer Satisfaction

- Complete repairs within the committed delivery time.
- Ensure quality workmanship.
- Minimize repeat repairs.
- Handle customer vehicles carefully and responsibly.

Required Skills

- Good knowledge of petrol, diesel, hybrid, and modern automotive systems.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults.
- Familiarity with OBD diagnostic scanners.
- Knowledge of engine, gearbox, clutch, suspension, steering, and brake systems.
- Basic computer skills for workshop software.
- Strong problem-solving ability.
- Good teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications

- ITI/Diploma in Motor Mechanic Vehicle (MMV) or Automobile Engineering preferred.
- Relevant work experience in a multi-brand workshop is an advantage.
- Valid driving licence preferred.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift automotive components.
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Willingness to work in a workshop workplace.

- Number of vehicles serviced per day.
- First-time repair success rate.
- Customer satisfaction.
- Repeat repair percentage.
- Workshop discipline and punctuality.
- Proper use of tools and equipment.
- Compliance with safety standards.

Working Hours

As per company policy, including overtime when required.

- Report to work on time.
- Wear the company uniform and safety gear.
- Treat customers and colleagues respectfully.
- Do not misuse customer vehicles.
- Maintain confidentiality of customer information.
- Follow all workshop rules and safety procedures.

Pay: ₹8,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
