We are looking for an experienced Senior Scientific Officer (SSO) to lead laboratory operations, ensure NABL compliance, supervise technical staff, and maintain the highest quality standards in a diagnostic laboratory. The ideal candidate should have strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and experience in laboratory quality management.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise all technical staff involved in sample processing.
- Manage day-to-day laboratory operations.
- Review and approve validation, verification, and technical reports.
- Approve reagent verification and technical documentation.
- Ensure equipment calibration, preventive maintenance, and documentation.
- Guide staff on troubleshooting and technical issues.
- Monitor NABL and ISO 15189 compliance.
- Conduct internal audits and implement CAPA.
- Review and close technical non-conformities (NCs).
- Maintain laboratory quality records and documentation.
- Coordinate with the Quality Manager on accreditation requirements.
- Train and mentor laboratory technical staff.
- Assist the Laboratory Director in operational planning.
- Plan workload, staff schedules, and departmental meetings.
- Support hiring, performance management, and technical development of staff.
- Manage referral laboratories and monitor service quality.
- Participate in research projects and scientific publications.
- Perform any additional laboratory responsibilities assigned by management.
Qualification
- M.Sc. (Medical Laboratory Technology/Microbiology/Biochemistry/Biotechnology) or equivalent.
- Ph.D. will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 8–12 years of experience in a diagnostic laboratory.
- Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience in NABL-accredited laboratories preferred.
