The Operation Theatre (OT) Staff Nurse is responsible for providing safe, efficient, and high-quality nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures. The role involves preparing the operation theatre, assisting surgeons and anesthetists, maintaining a sterile environment, ensuring the availability of surgical instruments and equipment, and monitoring patient safety throughout the perioperative process.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare the operation theatre for scheduled surgical procedures.
- Verify patient identity, surgical site, consent forms, and pre-operative documentation.
- Maintain strict aseptic and infection prevention protocols.
- Prepare, sterilize, and arrange surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Assist surgeons, anesthetists, and the surgical team during operations.
- Perform duties as a scrub nurse and circulating nurse as assigned.
- Monitor the patient's condition during surgery and report any abnormalities to the surgical team.
- Ensure the correct handling, counting, and documentation of surgical instruments, needles, and sponges before, during, and after procedures.
- Administer medications and intravenous fluids as prescribed.
- Assist with patient positioning and ensure safety throughout the surgical procedure.
- Transfer patients safely to the recovery room and provide post-operative handover.
- Maintain accurate documentation of surgical procedures, nursing interventions, and patient records.




- Ensure OT equipment is functional and report any maintenance requirements promptly.
- Dispose of biomedical waste according to hospital policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in emergency surgical procedures and trauma cases as required.
- Maintain inventory of OT supplies and coordinate replenishment.
- Follow hospital policies, quality standards, and patient safety protocols.
- Participate in continuous education, training, and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

- Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) or B.Sc. Nursing from a recognized institution.
- Valid registration with the applicable Nursing Council.
- Certification or training in Operation Theatre Nursing is preferred.
- Freshers with OT training or experienced OT nurses are eligible, based on organizational requirements.

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

- Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic medical records are preferred.

Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹28,000.00 per month
