Job Summary:

The Junior Biomedical Engineer is responsible for assisting in the installation, preventive maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and documentation of medical equipment to ensure protected, reliable, and uninterrupted patient care. The role supports compliance with NABH standards, manufacturer recommendations, and hospital policies.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in installation, testing, and acceptance of new medical equipment.

Perform preventive maintenance (PM) as per the approved maintenance schedule.

Attend equipment breakdown calls and carry out first-level troubleshooting and repairs.

Maintain equipment history cards, maintenance logs, calibration records, and service reports.

Coordinate with AMCs/CMCs for major repairs and preventive servicing.

Ensure all biomedical equipment is safe, functional, and available for clinical use.

Assist in calibration and performance verification of medical devices.

Conduct daily rounds in clinical departments to identify equipment faults.

Support inventory management of biomedical equipment, spare parts, and consumables.

Assist in equipment condemnation, replacement, and disposal as per hospital policy.

Participate in incident investigations related to medical equipment failures.





Ensure compliance with NABH standards, electrical safety norms, infection control practices, and statutory requirements.

Coordinate with Nursing, ICU, OT, Laboratory, Radiology, and other departments regarding equipment maintenance.

Be available for emergency breakdown maintenance during on-call duties.

Qualification:

Diploma/B.E./B.Tech in Biomedical Engineering from a recognized institution.

Freshers or 0–2 years of experience in a hospital or healthcare facility preferred.

Required Skills:

Knowledge of biomedical equipment and medical devices.

Basic understanding of electrical and electronic systems.

Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting skills.

Valuable documentation and report-writing ability.

Computer proficiency (MS Office/ MS Exel).

Valuable communication and teamwork skills.
