Freight brokers are responsible for arranging the transport of goods by connecting shippers with reliable carriers. Their duties include:
- Negotiating shipping rates and contracts with carriers to meet revenue and profit goals while maintaining robust business relationships.
- Booking and tracking shipments, ensuring goods are delivered on time and in compliance with safety regulations.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with both carriers and clients, including lead generation, cold calling, and customer service
- Providing administrative support, such as scheduling, managing documentation, preparing reports, and monitoring freight in transit.
- Problemsolving and communication, addressing service failures, delays, or other issues to minimize disruptions.
- Market intelligence, staying informed about transportation modes, routes, rates, and industry regulations.
