Job Description – Lab Assistant

Position: Lab Assistant
Department: Science Department

Job Purpose

To support the effective functioning of the school science laboratories by preparing materials, maintaining equipment, ensuring safety standards, and assisting teachers during practical sessions.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare laboratory equipment, chemicals, and materials for practical classes.
- Assist teachers and students during science experiments and laboratory activities.
- Ensure laboratories are clean, organized, and ready for use.
- Maintain an inventory of laboratory equipment, chemicals, and consumables.
- Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of laboratory materials.
- Conduct regular checks to ensure all equipment is in working condition.
- Follow and promote laboratory safety procedures and guidelines.
- Report damaged equipment, shortages, or safety concerns to the Science Coordinator.
- Maintain records of inventory,



equipment maintenance, and laboratory usage.
- Support the setup and cleanup of experiments and demonstrations.

Qualifications

- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, or related field).
- Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and safety practices.
- Computer proficiency for maintaining records and inventories.

Experience

- 1–3 years of laboratory experience preferred.
- Fresh graduates with a science background may also apply.
