Job Title: VMC Programmer / Supervisor

Department: Production / Machining

Reports To: Production Manager / Plant Manager

Job Summary

The VMC Programmer Cum Supervisor is responsible for both VMC programming and shop floor supervision of Vertical Machining Center operations. This dual-role position ensures accurate program development, efficient production execution, team management, and adherence to strict precision and quality standards. The role requires strong technical expertise combined with leadership capabilities to drive productivity and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

- Diploma/BE in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in VMC machining in precision manufacturing.
- 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, cutting tools, tooling selection, and GD&T.;
- Experience with Fanuc/Siemens/Heidenhain control systems preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

1. VMC Programming & Process Development

- Develop and optimize VMC programs using CAM software (Mastercam, SolidCAM, NX, PowerMill, etc.).




- Create machining strategies based on 2D/3D CAD models and engineering drawings.
- Select cutting tools, fixtures, and machining parameters for different materials.
- Perform simulation and collision checks before program release.
- Conduct program prove-out and first-piece validation.

2. Production Supervision

- Supervise daily VMC machining operations and machine operators.
- Assign jobs as per production schedule and priority.
- Monitor machine utilization, cycle time, and productivity.
- Ensure on-time completion of production targets.
- Minimize downtime through effective coordination and troubleshooting.

3. Quality & Precision Control

- Ensure components meet tight tolerances and GD&T; specifications.
- Conduct first-off inspection and support quality audits.
- Investigate root causes for rejections and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain documentation related to process sheets, inspection reports, and program revisions.

4. Team Leadership & Training

- Train and mentor operators on machine setup and best practices.
- Conduct shift meetings and performance reviews.
- Enforce discipline, safety standards, and PPE compliance.
- Develop skill improvement plans for team members.

5. Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement

- Reduce cycle times and improve tool life.
- Implement lean manufacturing and cost-saving initiatives.
- Improve fixture design and machining efficiency.
- Monitor scrap rate and suggest corrective measures.

6. Equipment & Maintenance Coordination

- Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules.
- Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and programming issues.
- Ensure proper calibration and upkeep of VMC machines.

Compensation

- Salary: As per industry standards (Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 50,000)

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹50,000.00 per month
