Senior Engineer / Assistant Manager – Purchase

Key Responsibilities

- Manage end-to-end procurement activities for raw materials, bought-out items, and components.
- Source and develop vendors for workstations, office chairs, PODs, and sheet metal components.
- Procure materials including sheet metal, steel, wood, plywood, laminates, plastic, foam, fabric, hardware, fasteners, castors, gas lifts, and other furniture accessories.
- Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, payment conditions, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
- Ensure timely procurement of materials to support uninterrupted production.
- Coordinate closely with Production, Planning, Design, Stores, and Quality teams.
- Develop alternate vendors and drive supplier performance on Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) parameters.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities through value engineering, localization, and strategic sourcing.
- Prepare purchase orders, maintain procurement records, and ensure ERP compliance.




- Monitor inventory levels and optimize material availability.
- Support new product development by sourcing recent materials and components.
- Resolve supplier quality and delivery issues through effective coordination and follow-up.

Required Skills

- 7–8 years of experience in office furniture manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of procurement for workstations, office chairs, PODs, and sheet metal components.
- Hands-on experience in sourcing sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, CNC bending, powder-coated components, fabricated assemblies, wood, plastic, foam, fabric, and furniture hardware.
- Strong vendor development, negotiation, and supplier management skills.
- Good understanding of BOMs, technical drawings, ERP systems, and MS Excel.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualification

- B.E./B.Tech or Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.
- MBA in Supply Chain/Materials Management will be an added advantage.
