Job Summary
Job Description – AWS Aurora PostgreSQL DBA

Required Skills & Attributes
• 4–5 years of experience managing relational databases with expertise in PostgreSQL / Aurora PostgreSQL (performance tuning, production support)
• 3–5 years of experience working with AWS RDS (Aurora PostgreSQL preferred), including provisioning, cluster management, backups, monitoring, and failover
• 4+ years of robust SQL expertise in PostgreSQL (query optimization, indexing, execution plan analysis)
• 3–5 years of experience implementing HA/DR solutions (Aurora clustering, Multi-AZ, read replicas)
• 3–4 years of experience with monitoring tools (CloudWatch, Aurora Performance Insights)
• 3–5 years of experience in database security (encryption, IAM, access controls, audit logging)

Preferred Skills & Attributes
• Hands-on experience with Aurora PostgreSQL features (clustering, failover, read replicas) – 1–3 years
• 3–5 years in production support (incident response, RCA, on-call)
• Experience with Master Data Governance (MDG) or similar platforms – 2+ years
• 3+ years supporting enterprise data platforms and integrations
• Healthcare/regulatory environment experience (HIPAA, audit controls) – 2+ years
• Experience with large-scale workload tuning (high transaction, large datasets)




• Strong collaboration across application, cloud, and data teams
• 2–4 years scripting (Python, PowerShell, Shell)
• Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) – 1–3 years
• Experience with AWS DMS for migrations – 1–3 years
• Knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, Git
• Exposure to AWS data services (Redshift, DynamoDB, S3)
• AWS certifications (Database Specialty / Solutions Architect)

Primary Responsibilities
• Manage and support AWS Aurora PostgreSQL environments, including configuration, scaling, and monitoring
• Ensure performance and reliability through query tuning, indexing, and issue resolution
• Implement backup, recovery, and DR solutions (snapshots, PITR, Multi-AZ)
• Collaborate with application, cloud, and data teams for deployments and releases
• Automate DBA processes using scripting and AWS-native tooling

Preferred Experience & Domain Background
• Experience supporting MDG or enterprise data platforms
• Hands-on Aurora PostgreSQL in high-availability environments
• Healthcare or regulated domain experience (HIPAA, compliance)
• Experience with mission-critical systems with high uptime requirements
• Familiarity with ETL/ELT pipelines and API integrations
• Experience in large matrix organizations
• Exposure to data governance frameworks
• Prior DBA experience in PostgreSQL/Aurora

AI Skills Expectations
• 90%+ weekly usage of enterprise-approved AI tools (GitHub Copilot, M365 Copilot)
• Use AI for coding, documentation, data analysis, and productivity
• Continuously learn and adopt new AI capabilities
