Role Overview
This role is focused on platform development and automation for enterprise Linux environments, with robust emphasis on Ansible/AAP and Kubernetes/Open Shift. The engineer will build reusable automation, enable application deployments, and help standardize platform capabilities across RHEL and container platforms in collaboration with operations and infrastructure teams.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain reusable Ansible playbooks, roles, collections, and workflows in AAP for Linux platform automation
Design automation for provisioning, configuration management, patch orchestration, and application deployments across RHEL environments
Build and maintain Kubernetes/Open Shift deployment assets, including manifests, templates, and deployment standards
Support application onboarding to Open Shift/Kubernetes by defining projects, quotas, configuration, secrets, storage, and networking requirements
Integrate automation with Red Hat Satellite, Git Lab, APIs, and enterprise toolchains to enable end-to-end platform delivery
Use Git-based workflows, code reviews, and version control best practices for all automation and platform code
Develop self-service automation and reusable platform patterns to reduce manual effort and improve consistency
Collaborate with application, database, security, and infrastructure teams to design deployment solutions and resolve integration issues
Troubleshoot complex issues across Ansible, RHEL, Open Shift/Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
Optimize automation performance, idempotency, logging, and error handling for production-grade execution
Implement platform standards for security, hardening, secrets handling, and compliance within automation and container deployments
Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and onboarding guides for platform services and automation assets
Support container image build and release processes using enterprise registry and pipeline standards
Validate changes through testing, peer review, and controlled release practices before production rollout
Work closely with operations teams to transition developed solutions into stable and supportable services
Contribute to platform improvements, standardization, and modernization initiatives across Linux and container environments
Stay current with Ansible, Kubernetes, and Open Shift capabilities and recommend practical platform enhancements
Required Skills
Solid Linux/RHEL administration knowledge with understanding of system configuration, patching, networking, and security fundamentals
Strong hands-on experience with Ansible/AAP, including playbooks, roles, inventories, templates, variables, and workflow design
Good working knowledge of Kubernetes and/or Open Shift, including pods, deployments, services, routes/ingress, Config Maps, Secrets, persistent storage, and basic troubleshooting
Experience with Git/Git Lab, YAML, JSON, REST APIs, and Infrastructure-as-Code or automation engineering practices
Experience integrating automation with Red Hat Satellite, CI/CD pipelines, and enterprise platform tools; Python or shell scripting is a plus

Preferred Qualifications & Certifications
RHCSA/RHCE/Ansible Automation/Open Shift or Kubernetes certifications are an advantage
Previous experience in enterprise-scale Linux, automation, or container platform env
