Scientist – Medicinal Chemistry

Location: Hyderabad / Bengaluru

Experience: 1–12 years

Qualification: M.Sc./PhD in Organic Chemistry.

About the Role

Aurigene Pharmaceutical Services Limited is looking for talented Scientists in Medicinal Chemistry to join our research teams in Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

The Scientist will be responsible for planning and executing the synthesis of target compounds with the required purity and quantity, in line with project and client requirements. The role requires a strong foundation in organic chemistry, practical synthetic expertise, analytical interpretation skills, scientific documentation, and strict adherence to IPM and SHE guidelines.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and Synthesis

- Execute the synthesis of target compounds according to plans provided by the Team Leader.
- Conduct literature searches to plan synthetic experiments and identify suitable methodologies.
- Plan and perform multi-step organic synthesis with moderate supervision.
- Optimize reactions and troubleshoot experimental challenges by identifying and addressing technical bottlenecks.
- Synthesize and deliver compounds with the required purity and quantity within agreed project timelines.

Analytical Data Interpretation

- Interpret analytical data to identify synthesized target compounds and key intermediates.




- Review and interpret data generated through techniques such as NMR, LCMS, and HPLC.
- Support the successful characterization and purity assessment of synthesized compounds.

Scientific Documentation

- Record experiments accurately, punctually, and in sufficient scientific detail.
- Maintain laboratory notebooks and project documentation in accordance with project specifications.
- Ensure documentation complies with client requirements and Intellectual Property Management standards.
- Maintain documentation readiness for quality reviews and audits.

Safety and Compliance

- Follow established laboratory safety practices and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Comply with Safety, Health and Environment guidelines and organizational procedures.
- Contribute to a safe working setting through responsible laboratory practices.
- Coordinate effectively with Analytical, IPM, EHS, and other internal teams.

Education and Experience

- M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry from a recognized institution.
- 1–9 years of relevant experience in synthetic organic chemistry or medicinal chemistry.
- Relevant theoretical and practical knowledge of organic chemistry.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, CRO, CDMO, or drug-discovery environment will be advantageous.
