Interior(Cabin/Cockpit/ Safety)Engineer

Scope of Role

The Lead Engineer is responsible for leadership of the sub system engineers and is responsible for deliverables for all aspects of defined components/systems

Area of Responsibility

- This position is responsible for establishing, planning and running the engineering sub system meetings to ensure appropriate cross functional representation and input from all relevant areas. You will have responsibility for:
- Strong design expertise in automotive Cabin trim components including Pillar trims, Trunk trims, Headliners, Sun visors, Overhead console, Carpet, NVH, Ducts etc, while leading the design engineering team to provide technical solutions, feasibility assessments, and component-level engineering support.
- Pillar Trims: A Pillar, B‑Pillar (Upper/Lower), C‑Pillar (Upper/Lower), Scuff Plates.
- Headliners & Overhead Console: Fixed Roof, Panoramic Roof, Opening Panoramic Roof.
- Carpet & Load Space: Front/Rear Carpet, Dash NVH, Bulkhead Insulation, Load Space Side Trims, Parcel Shelf, Load Floor, Storage Blocks
- Ensure timely delivery of all Cabin systems and components in alignment with project timelines and milestones.
- Proactively escalate critical technical or program issues to the Cabin ML for timely decision-making and resolution.
- Work in accordance with vehicle specification books, feature lists, and CMF (Colour, Material & Finish) requirements to ensure design compliance.
- Design and development of Cabin Cooling System and its Component, AC Lines & Hoses, Cooling Circuit layout




- Ensure data is up to date and reflects the required levels of maturity at any given point in time
- Provide CAD support, leading and progressing the design in line with the program timescales and deliverables.
- Maintain standardized templates and common practices for preparing technical specifications, DVPs, DFMEAs, and conduct structured technical design reviews.
- Lead planning and execution activities to secure on time part development and delivery throughout program phases.
- Own and deliver the Engineering Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) deliverables
- Drive cross functional issue resolution meetings during development and launch phases to ensure smooth program progression.
- Prepare Design Change Requests (DCRs) to address build issues and support timely implementation of necessary engineering updates.
- Positive Understanding of DFMEA, CAE requirements, DVP- Design validations, Testing on Component/Assembly
- Support Purchasing team in Sourcing and RFQ activities.
- Support vehicles launch and pre-production builds (both virtual and physical) establishing the teamwork plan
- Management of Supplier (s) to ensure system/component delivery to vehicle programme timing and attribute targets.
- This position is responsible for establishing,



planning and running the engineering Cockpit ( IP & Console) system meetings to ensure appropriate cross functional representation and input from all relevant areas.
- Ensure progression of design quality maturity from initial concept through to final engineering sign-Off(FESO).
- Establishing and maintain the teamwork plan aligned to vehicle program.

Essential:

- Proven project management capability demonstrated by recent delivery in line with time, Cost, quality & attribute targets
- Proven experience in development and/or integration of at least one program and preferably more on Interior-Cabin system.
- Engineering knowledge of defined component(s) / system(s) design, function, performance, production & manufacturing requirements,
- Liaise with supplier, Manufacturing, CAE& Validation Teams.
- Significant experience in use of engineering tools FMEA, Six Sigma, problem resolution etc.
- Good Knowledge ofengineering materials and processes, dimensional management, GD&T;
- Successful history of delivery within the automotive sector.

Skills:

- Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills, adapting style to suit different audiences, demonstrated ability to communicate at all levels.
- Demonstrates and fosters a sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals.
- In-depth functional knowledge of Interior-Cabin system.
- CAD Literacy: Ability to generate CAD data and Master sections in CATIA V5/V6
- PC Literacy: Microsoft Project, Power Point, Excel, Word etc
- Analytical, logical, and critical thinking ability.
