Position Overview
MIT ADT University is seeking an energetic, research-oriented, and agile Assistant Professor in Economics to join our faculty. The candidate will deliver high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics, Computational Economics, or Applied Economics.
The ideal candidate will bridge foundational economic theory with modern analytical techniques, data science, and interdisciplinary applications (such as technology, design, and policy).
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Pedagogy
- Deliver courses in foundational and advanced Economics (Micro, Macro, Econometrics, Managerial Economics, Public Finance, Development Economics, etc.) across various programs.
- Implement Outcome-Based Education (OBE) models, innovative teaching methods, and digital LMS tools.
- Design and continuously update syllabus modules to reflect modern economic trends, global markets, and data-driven analytical tools (e.g., R, Python, STATA, SPSS).
- Mentor students for academic success, capstone projects, research dissertations, and competitive career paths.
1. Research & Innovation
- Conduct high-quality academic research leading to publications in Scopus-indexed, Web of Science, or UGC-CARE listed journals.
- Apply for external research grants, funded consultancy projects, and collaborative research programs with government/industry bodies.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research dissertations and guide Ph.D. scholars (if applicable).
1. University & Academic Administration
- Participate actively in departmental committees, curriculum development boards,
accreditation processes (NAAC/NIRF), and event organizing teams.
- Support student clubs, guest lectures, economic forums, summits, and industry visits.
- Engage in the university’s holistic growth initiatives, including mentoring and interdisciplinary project evaluation.
Qualifications & Eligibility
Mandatory Criteria (As per UGC Norms)
- Master’s Degree: M.A. / M. Sc. in Economics or Applied Economics from an accredited Indian or international university with a minimum of 55% marks (or an equivalent grade).
- National / State Test: Must have cleared NET (National Eligibility Test) conducted by UGC/CSIR, or SET/SLET in Economics.
- Ph.D. Degree: A Ph.D. in Economics (or related sub-disciplines) completed or near completion (candidates who have defended their thesis will be preferred). Ph.D. candidates are exempt from NET/SET as per UGC norms.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Experience: 0 to 3+ years of post-qualification teaching or research experience in a recognized institute/university.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in statistical software and programming languages used in economic research (STATA, R, Python, MATLAB, or SPSS).
- Research Record: Demonstrable portfolio of published papers or working papers in peer-reviewed journals.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills and modern classroom presentation abilities.
