Job Summary

Lab incharge is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and ensuring that all tests are completed promptly and accurately. Job responsibility also includes reviewing test results ensuring that lab complies with safety and quality standards at all times. In addition, monitor training and development initiatives of lab personnel and updates protocols as necessary.

Education:

MBBS, DNB, MD (Pathology/Microbiology/Biochemistry)

Key Skills / Experience

- Ability to interpret complex test results and correlate clinically.
- Familiarity with emerging diagnostic technologies and techniques.
- Knowledge of NABL and other accreditation standards.
- Ability to analyze and interpret lab data using digital platforms(LIS)
- Sound judgment in urgent clinical situations or when reporting critical values.

Primary Responsibilities

- Provide expert guidance on interpretation, validation and authorization of test results.
- Ensure accuracy, reliability and timeliness of all diagnostic services.
- Oversee adherence to clinical protocols, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and quality control measures.
- Ensure the lab complies with applicable regulatory standards (NABL).
- Oversee documentation, audits and quality improvement initiatives.
- Provide consultative support to employees / physicians in interpreting complex or critical test results and handle critical case-related calls promptly and professionally.
- Review and validate test results to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Analyse complaints related to TAT and reporting ensuring active participation in driving a timely resolution.




- Liaise with Consultants/HOD for closure of unresolved issues and review of all documents.
- Monitor and ensure real-time compliance with daily TAT targets.
- Provide advisory services about the choice of tests and the use of the services and the interpretation of laboratory data.
- Monitor daily upkeep and address breakdowns swiftly with minimal disruption to operations.
- Monitor and review stock at frequent intervals to ensure smooth functioning and to prevent excess indent /sudden shortages.
- Coordinate with Cluster In Charge Technical Operations and Sales marketing team to promote the needs of the organization in terms of slow-moving parameters and current launches.
- Ensure monthly review of QI, EQAS, IQC and CV% in accordance with QAD.
- Plan alternate processing during equipment failures to avoid TAT delays.
- Address test menu and methodology queries.
- Format reports and oversee consistency across sections.
- Review amended reports and perform random checks for quality.
- Lead and support internal/external audits (e.g., NABL, ISO) and maintain all required documentation
- Participate actively in any internal or external assessments and identify opportunities for improvement based on risk assessment of the laboratory.
- Proactively participate in quality improvement initiatives and programs.
- Ensure competency of all staff and training requirements including behavioral aspects.
- Be a part of Scientific forum and act as technical expert for all the clinicians, scientific forums and Marketing team in their respective zones

Additional Responsibilities

- Counsel patients on diagnostic test results and clinical implications, when requested by treating physicians.
- Be available for urgent test interpretation and decision-making in emergency at all times.
- Undertake any additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director Laboratory, in support of continuous improvement of organizational services.
