Role: AGM/ DGM - Business Development
Location: Mumbai
Function: Sales & Marketing / Business Development
Industry Preference: Industrial Minerals, Talc, Calcium Carbonate, Kaolin, Dolomite, Silica, Mica, Clay, Graphite, Specialty Fillers, Polymer Additives, Paint & Coating Raw Materials, Rubber Chemicals, Printing Ink Raw Materials, Paper Chemicals, Agrochemical Raw Materials.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Sales & Business Development
1. Drive sales and business development of various industrial minerals, functional fillers and mineral-based products across Maharashtra and South India.
2. Develop and execute business plans for existing and new customers in key industries such as plastics, paints & coatings, rubber, printing inks, paper, agrochemicals, adhesives, construction chemicals and other industrial applications.
3. Identify new market opportunities, new application areas and potential customers for existing and new mineral products.
4. Achieve assigned sales targets, volume growth, revenue growth, profitability and customer acquisition goals.
5. Build a strong sales pipeline through structured market mapping, lead generation, customer visits, technical discussions and regular follow-ups.
6. Drive business growth through both new customer development and deeper penetration into existing accounts.
2. Technical Sales & Application-Based Selling
1. Understand customer applications in detail and position the right industrial mineral product based on functionality, particle size, brightness, whiteness, purity, oil absorption, dispersion, hardness, rheology, reinforcement, opacity, cost optimization and process compatibility.
2. Provide techno-commercial solutions to customers by understanding their product formulations, process requirements and end-use performance expectations.
3. Promote industrial minerals not only as raw materials, but as performance-enhancing, cost-optimizing and application-driven solutions.
4. Work closely with customer technical teams, R&D; teams, purchase teams and plant teams to support product trials, validation and commercial approvals.
5. Coordinate with internal quality, R&D;, production and operations teams for sample development, product customization, quality consistency and technical query resolution.
6. Support customers in selection of suitable mineral grades based on application requirement, product performance and commercial feasibility.
3. Customer Relationship Management
1. Establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers at all levels, including promoters, business heads, purchase heads, technical heads, plant heads and R&D; teams.
2. Strengthen engagement with major customers and strategic accounts to ensure long-term business continuity and repeat orders.
3. Act as a trusted technical and business partner to customers by providing timely support, market inputs,
product recommendations and service excellence.
4. Monitor customer satisfaction, product performance, complaint resolution and service quality to ensure strong customer retention.
5. Handle key account management for major customers and build account-wise growth plans.
4. Market Mapping & New Business Opportunities
1. Conduct detailed market mapping across regions, industries and applications to identify potential business opportunities and untapped markets.
2. Identify industry-wise consumption trends, competitor presence, customer buying behavior, pricing patterns and future demand opportunities.
3. Build a structured database of target customers, prospects, competitors, applications, product grades and market potential.
4. Explore current applications for existing mineral products and recommend current product development opportunities based on market feedback.
5. Track emerging trends in industrial minerals, functional fillers, specialty additives and application-led mineral usage.
5. Strategy, Pricing & Commercial Management
1. Analyse market trends, customer requirements, competitor activity and pricing movements to support business strategy.
2. Recommend pricing strategies, product positioning and commercial terms based on customer segment, competition, market potential and profitability.
3. Work closely with leadership to design regional sales strategy, customer-wise strategy and industry-wise growth plans.
4. Ensure healthy contribution margins by balancing volume growth, pricing discipline, freight impact, customer terms and product mix.
5. Track sales performance against budget, monthly targets, annual plans and market development goals.
6. Collections, MIS & Business Reviews
1. Monitor collections, outstanding payments, credit exposure and commercial discipline across assigned customers.
2. Submit regular updates on sales performance, collections, new business development, customer trials, market intelligence and competitor activities.
3. Prepare monthly sales MIS, customer visit reports, pipeline reports, market mapping reports and business development trackers.
4. Participate in periodic business review meetings and present region-wise, customer-wise and product-wise performance.
5. Maintain proper documentation of customer interactions, product approvals, technical requirements, pricing discussions and commercial commitments.
7. Cross-Functional Coordination
1. Collaborate with production, quality, R&D;, logistics, finance and customer service teams to ensure timely supply,
quality consistency and customer satisfaction.
2. Coordinate with plant teams for product availability, dispatch planning, sample readiness and customer-specific requirements.
3. Work with quality and technical teams to resolve product-related concerns and support continuous improvement.
4. Coordinate internally for customer audits, plant visits, product demonstrations and technical presentations.
8. Industry Networking & Brand Building
1. Represent the organization in trade shows, exhibitions, seminars, industry forums and customer meets.
2. Build strong market visibility for the organizations industrial mineral portfolio.
3. Develop technical presentations, product pitch documents and customer-specific solution notes in coordination with internal teams.
4. Gather market intelligence through industry interactions, customer meetings and trade platforms.
Key Skills & Competencies
1. Strong understanding of industrial minerals and their functionality across different applications.
2. Strong technical sales experience in industries such as plastics, paints & coatings, rubber, printing inks, paper, agrochemicals, adhesives, sealants, ceramics or construction chemicals.
3. Ability to explain product performance parameters such as particle size, purity, whiteness, brightness, oil absorption, dispersion, rheology, reinforcement, opacity and cost optimization.
4. Good understanding of minerals such as talc, calcium carbonate, kaolin, dolomite, silica, mica, graphite, clay or other functional mineral fillers.
5. Strong customer relationship management and key account management capability.
6. Ability to manage both technical discussions and commercial negotiations.
7. Strong market mapping, lead generation and new business development skills.
8. Good analytical ability to study market trends, competitor activity, pricing and customer requirements.
9. Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
10. Ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams and external customers.
11. Strong ownership, follow-up discipline and result orientation.
12. Ability to work independently across a large region and manage multiple customer segments.

Qualification & Experience
Education:
Graduate / Postgraduate in Engineering, Science, Chemistry, Mineral Processing, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Business Administration or related discipline.
Preferred Qualification:
MBA in Marketing / International Business / Business Development will be an added advantage.
Experience:
10 - 20 years of experience in industrial minerals, specialty minerals, chemicals, fillers, additives or technical sales.
