Role & responsibilities

- conduct fire risk assessments across campus buildings, laboratories, hostels, libraries, and auditoriums.
- Ensure compliance with fire safety laws, the National Building Code (NBC), and local fire department requirements.
- Inspect and maintain fire protection systems such as:
- Fire extinguishers
- Hydrant systems
- Sprinkler systems
- Fire alarm and detection systems
- Emergency lighting and exit signage
- Plan and conduct fire evacuation drills for students, faculty, and staff.
- Train employees and students on emergency response, extinguisher use, and evacuation procedures.
- Prepare and maintain emergency response plans and Personal Emergency Evacuation Plans (PEEPs) where required.
- Coordinate with the local Fire Department during inspections and fire NOC renewals.
- Investigate fire incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain records of inspections, equipment testing, maintenance schedules, and statutory documentation.
- Monitor contractors to ensure protected work practices during construction, renovation, or maintenance.
- Promote fire safety awareness through campaigns, posters, and training sessions.
