The Role
Within our IBM i (AS400/DB2) Performance Database Specialist team at Kyndryl, you'll be a master of managing and administering the backbone of our technological infrastructure. You'll be the architect of the system, shaping the base definition, structure, and documentation to ensure the long-term success of our business operations.
Your expertise will be crucial in configuring, installing and maintaining database management systems, ensuring that our systems are always running at peak performance. You'll also be responsible for managing user access, implementing the highest standards of security to protect our valuable data from unauthorized access.
In addition, you'll be a disaster recovery guru, developing strong backup and recovery plans to ensure that our system is always protected in the event of a failure. Your technical acumen will be put to use, as you support end users and application developers in solving complex problems related to our database systems.
As a key player on the team, you'll implement policies and procedures to safeguard our data from external threats. You will also conduct capacity planning and growth projections based on usage, ensuring that our system is always scalable to meet our business needs.

We are seeking a highly experienced IBM i (AS400) professional with strong DB administration and system performance tuning expertise. This role blends traditional DBA responsibilities with deep system-level optimization,
requiring hands-on experience with tools like IBM iDoctor as well as Plan Cache and Collection Services.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- 10+ Years of experience with IBM i (AS400) environments, with a focus on DB2 administration and performance management
- Proven expertise in database indexing, query optimization, and system performance tuning
- Hands-on experience with IBM iDoctor tools, including Job Watcher, Plan Cache, and Collection Services
- Deep understanding of DB2 for i architecture, data structures, and performance diagnostics
- Strong SQL skills and ability to analyze and optimize complex queries
- Experience in troubleshooting database and system performance issues
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience
- Experience with capacity planning and workload management in IBM i environments
- Knowledge of high availability and disaster recovery solutions for DB2 on IBM i
- Familiarity with automation tools and scripting for database administration tasks
- Experience working in large enterprise or managed services environments (BFSI preferred)
- Exposure to integration with application middleware or legacy systems
- Understanding of DevOps practices and performance monitoring frameworks
