Deputy Manager -Senior Specialist Standards Development for Digital Identity
Location: UIDAI Head Office, Current Delhi
Role Overview : UIDAI is seeking a highly qualified senior specialist with deep expertise in the standardization of lifecycle, especially in the domains of biometric identity systems, authentication protocols, information security, and interoperability frameworks. The resource will support UIDAI in engaging with Indian and international standards development organizations and help in drafting, revising, promoting, and implementing standards relevant to the digital identity ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities :
1. Promote Digital Identity Standards and its interoperability
a) Formulate, Incubate, develop, and promote standardization activities related to digital identity.
b) Promote and facilitate discussions for enabling interoperability of digital identity systems and related services at national and international levels.
c) Ensure high-quality, technically sound, and editorially consistent documentation for identity standards and associated publications.
2. Liaison with Standards Development Organizations (SDOs)
a) Facilitate UIDAIs interface with bodies such as BIS, ISO, ITU, IEEE, IETF, and other domain-specific SDOs.
b) Manage end-to-end submission, review, and approval workflows for new and revised standards.
3. Stakeholder Engagement
a) Coordinate with government departments, academic institutions,
industry players, and think tanks for consultation and consensus-building.
b) Provide institutional and technical support to alliances, working groups, and collaborative platforms for adoption of digital identity standards.
4. Awareness and Capacity Building
a) Promote awareness and adoption of digital identity standards through capacity-building and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
b) Design and execute dissemination strategies such as seminars, webinars, whitepapers, video explainers, and print publications to promote adoption of digital identity standards.
5. Miscellaneous Support
Provide technical advice and support on any standardization-related matters assigned by concerned functional wing from time to time.
Educational Qualifications :
Essential: B.Tech / B.E. from a Tier-1/2 Institution (preferably from IITs, NITs, IIITs) Desirable: MBA or Ph.D. in relevant domains such as Information Security, Public Policy, Identity Systems, Technology Management.
Experience Requirements :
Essential: Minimum 6 years of professional experience, preferably in standards development or policy formulation in biometric technology and authentication systems.
Desirable: -- Working with/for national/international standards bodies (e.g., BIS, ISO, IETF, ITU) Strategic technology consulting experience
Preferred Skills and Competencies :
- Deep knowledge of digital identity ecosystems (enrolment, deduplication, authentication).
- Familiarity with national and global identity standards.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
