Role & responsibilities

Production Management

- Plan, organize, and monitor daily production schedules.
- Ensure jobs are completed on time and meet customer requirements.
- Optimize machine utilization and workforce productivity.
- Coordinate with production planning and other departments.

2. Team Leadership

- Supervise machine operators, CNC programmers, setters, and technicians.
- Assign work based on skills and production priorities.
- Train and mentor employees on machining processes and safety.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback.

3. Quality Control

- Ensure products meet engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Implement quality control procedures and corrective actions.
- Reduce defects, rework, and scrap.
- Coordinate with the quality department to resolve customer complaints.

4. Machine Maintenance

- Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance schedules are followed.
- Coordinate repairs to minimize machine downtime.
- Monitor machine performance and recommend equipment upgrades.
- Maintain tooling and fixtures in good working condition.

5. Safety & Compliance

- Enforce workplace safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and risk assessments.
- Investigate accidents and implement corrective actions.

Inventory & Tool Management

- Monitor inventory of raw materials, cutting tools, inserts, gauges, and consumables.
- Ensure timely procurement to avoid production delays.
- Control tooling costs and improve tool life.

7. Process Improvement

- Implement Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Improve machining cycle times and reduce waste.
- Standardize machining processes and work instructions.
- Monitor and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

8. Cost Control

- Manage departmental budgets and operating expenses.
- Reduce machining costs through process optimization.
- Monitor labor efficiency and machine utilization.
- Control overtime and material wastage.

9. Customer & Cross-Functional Coordination

- Work closely with engineering, production planning, purchasing, and quality teams.
- Support current product development and process planning.
- Communicate production status to management and customers when required.

10. Documentation & Reporting

- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
- Maintain production records, maintenance logs, and quality documentation.
- Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and recommend improvements.
- Ensure compliance with ISO and company documentation requirements.
