Job Title / Summary: Embedded Software Engineer/Senior Software Engineer (Automotive Embedded C/C++)
Experience: 5 to 10 years
Job Location: Bangalore/Hyderabad
Role & Responsibilities / What youll do:
- Design, develop and optimize embedded firmware based on RTOS or Bare-metal for automotive MCU platform
- Writing post silicon verification and validation application
- Integration and testing of middleware components for Edge AI/Physical AI model integration, training and optimization
- Debug and troubleshoot issues at bringing up first and critical peripherals like ADC, PWM, CAN, LIN, watchdogs, etc.
- Work along with architecture, safety, and tools team to align with silicon capabilities
- Analyze and debug complex system-level issues using emulators and industry-standard debug tools such as OpenOCD, J-Link, and Lauterbach
- Provide actionable feedback for next-generation MCU architectures based on insights gained from software validation and performance analysis.
- Contribute to the broader RISC-V software ecosystem by enabling and enhancing architecture support across key open-source projects.
Required skills / Whom we are looking for:
- Bachelors or Master’s degree in related engineering field with 3 to 8 years of hands-on experience in embedded software development based on MCU/MPU
- Programming Language: Proficiency in C, intermediate to expert in C++. Scripting/python
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, including experience with tools like OpenOCD, JTAG, J-Link, Lauterbach
- Hands-on experience developing, porting, or maintaining embedded software on real-time operating systems such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, AUTOSAR OS, or equivalent RTOS platforms.
- Proven experience with hardware bring-up, board initialization, and debugging on production silicon, engineering samples, or FPGA-based development platforms.
- Working knowledge of common automotive communication buses and peripheral interfaces,
including CAN, LIN, SPI, IC, and UART.
- Experience developing automated test frameworks and validation scripts using Python or Bash, along with proficiency in Git-based version control and collaborative software development workflows.
- Strong understanding of Processor/SoC architecture (RISC-V), memory management, interrupt handling, and low-level programming.
- Experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on optimizing software for embedded hardware.
- Robust communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality, reliable software.
- Self-motivated with a strong passion for embedded AI systems and technology.
Nice-to-haves
- Working knowledge of functional safety software development, including exposure to ASIL-D requirements, ISO 26262 compliance, and safety verification or validation activities.
- Experience participating in post-silicon validation, application verification and validation (AVV), or Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing for embedded systems.
- Understanding of the RISC-V architecture, instruction set extensions, development ecosystem, and associated compiler/debug toolchains.
- Hands-on experience developing, integrating, or validating firmware for motor control, powertrain, or other safety-critical embedded applications.
- Familiarity with bootloader design, secure firmware update mechanisms, secure boot, and system initialization or startup software.
