Role Summary

The Offshore PostgreSQL DBA is responsible for end-to-end administration, stability, and performance of PostgreSQL databases supporting critical banking applications. This role operates within an onsiteoffshore delivery model, production support, and adherence to enterprise governance, security, and compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Database Platform Ownership (Offshore Delivery Model)

Manage installation, configuration, and lifecycle of PostgreSQL databases across environments (DEV, QA, PROD)

Own database health, availability, and operational readiness during offshore hours

Ensure smooth handoff and coordination with onsite teams

Performance Engineering & Reliability

Monitor and tune database performance (queries, indexing, vacuuming, partitioning)

Analyze workload patterns and proactively optimize for performance and scalability

Support capacity planning and growth forecasting aligned with business demand

High Availability & Disaster Recovery





Implement and manage HA/DR configurations (streaming replication, failover, clustering)

Ensure backup, restore, and point-in-time recovery processes are fully operational

Participate in DR drills and validate recovery strategies

Production Support & Incident Management (Key Offshore Focus)

Provide L2/L3 production database support

Triage incidents, perform RCA, and implement permanent fixes

Participate in incident bridges and ensure SLA adherence

Release & Change Management

Support database deployments, schema changes, and release cutovers

Ensure compliance with change management and release governance processes

Validate rollback strategies and pre/post deployment checks

Security, Risk & Compliance

Manage database access, roles, and privileges in line with security policies

Ensure adherence to banking regulatory and audit requirement

Support audit reviews with documentation and evidence
