Job Description: Field Application Engineer (FAE) - Reliability Engineering Services

Position Overview
Trident Techlabs is a premier technology partner delivering cutting-edge engineering solutions, simulation tools, and consulting services to high-reliability industries, including Defense, Aerospace, Automotive, Telecom, and Industrial Automation. We are seeking a highly technical, customer-facing Field Application Engineer (FAE) specializing in Reliability Services to serve as our resident subject matter expert for enterprise Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety (RAMS) software solutions.
In this specialized role, you will bridge the gap between complex client engineering designs and corporate risk management. You will guide strategic clients through modeling, simulating, and validating system lifecycles across the entire reliability analysis spectrum. Your ultimate objective is to ensure customer systems meet stringent international compliance, safety, and reliability metrics using industry-standard RAMS platforms.
Key Responsibilities
1. Core Reliability Analysis & Flow Modeling

- End-to-End RAMS Modeling: Map complex client architectures and execution paths into localized, multi-tiered reliability frameworks using industry-standard analysis platforms.
- Reliability Prediction: Execute component-level MTBF and failure rate calculations based on active engineering stresses (applying standards like MIL-HDBK-217, Telcordia, 217Plus, or ANSI/VITA).
- FMEA / FMECA: Conduct structured Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analyses (including Design, Process, and FMEDA) to identify and mitigate single points of failure.
- Fault Tree Analysis (FTA): Construct quantitative and qualitative top-down hazard isolation structures to assess system safety and catastrophic event probabilities.
- Reliability Block Diagram (RBD): Model complex system redundancy, multi-tier dependencies, and overall availability pathways.
- Maintainability Prediction:



Evaluate mean-time-to-repair (MTTR) architectures and diagnostic coverage metrics (applying frameworks like MIL-HDBK-472).
- Weibull & Life Data Analysis: Analyze component life cycles, distributions, and historical degradation patterns from empirical test data.
- Accelerated Life Testing (ALT): Model component stress matrices, acceleration factors, and environmental profiles to forecast extended usage reliability.
- Markov Analysis: Build state-transition frameworks to track complex, time-dependent network states and safety-critical functions.
- Life Cycle Cost (LCC): Map total system cost vectors, procurement risks, and long-term asset economic sustainability profiles.
- FRACAS Management: Oversee closed-loop Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System workflows, producing thorough engineering reports and recommendations for design teams.

2. Onsite Support & Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Onsite Engineering Support: Provide dedicated, hands-on reliability engineering support directly at customer locations.
- Field Assessments: Conduct system health checks, safety audits, troubleshooting, and reliability assessments for critical equipment, systems, and assets.
- Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate closely with design, quality, manufacturing, maintenance, and customer teams to systematically resolve complex reliability issues.
- Travel Flexibility: Travel to various customer sites as required for active project execution, field audits, and technical evaluations.

3. Data Analysis & Knowledge Sharing

- Field Data Interpretation: Collect, analyze, and interpret field failure data and operational metrics to identify trends and improve overall system reliability.




- Reliability Growth: Support and drive reliability growth programs and long-term continuous improvement initiatives.
- Technical Training: Act as a subject matter expert by providing structured training, workshops, and guidance on reliability methodologies and industry best practices to client teams.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Education: Bachelors or Masters degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or a strictly related technical domain.
- Experience: 3 to 6+ years of specialized experience in Reliability Engineering, Systems Safety, or as a Field Application Engineer handling enterprise engineering software.
- Tool Experience: Hands-on proficiency in any major industry-standard RAMS software suite, such as:
- PTC Windchill Quality / Relex
- Ansys Sherlock / ReliaSoft (Synthesis Suite)
- Relyence Suite
- Isograph (Reliability Workbench / FaultTree+)
- Parallel enterprise RAMS modeling tools.

- Standards & Compliance: Practical working knowledge of international reliability and safety standards (e.g., MIL-HDBK-217, Telcordia, 217Plus, ANSI/VITA, ISO 26262, or ARP4754).

- Field Agility: High level of adaptability and willingness to travel extensively for onsite assignments, audits, and hands-on project execution.

Target Industry & Domain Experience

- High-Reliability Industry Background: Deep domain experience delivering engineering services or technical support within demanding, regulated industries, such as Aerospace & Defense, Automotive, Telecom & Semiconductor Manufacturing, and Industrial Equipment & Energy.
