We are looking for a Senior Quality Engineer with a solid focus on consistency, automation expertise, and an event-driven mindset for a cloud-native engineering team. This person will own end-to-end test automation using PyTest, along with automation across AWS serverless infrastructure and high-throughput Kafka pipelines.

Key Responsibilities

- Build and maintain automated test suites with PyTest across AWS Lambda, Step Functions, and API Gateway
- Rely on CloudWatch Logs as the primary source of truth for end-to-end workflow validation, observability, and assertions
- Develop Confluent Kafka producer and consumer test harnesses to verify message integrity, schema contracts, and consumer group behavior across event-driven pipelines
- Embed automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab) so quality gates are enforced at every delivery stage
- Create Python utility scripts for test data generation, environment setup, log parsing, and test orchestration beyond standard PyTest use cases
- Work with engineers early in the design process to define testability needs and shift quality left
- Review production incidents, turn root causes into regression tests, and close coverage gaps before the next sprint
- Keep test infrastructure, fixture management, and reporting up to date to support fast, reliable feedback loops





Required Qualifications

- 7+ years in a quality engineering or SDET role with a strong automation focus
- Expert-level Python skills with deep PyTest experience fixtures, parametrize, markers, plugins, and custom plugins
- Hands-on experience testing AWS serverless services: Lambda (invocation, error handling, retries), Step Functions (state transitions, branching), API Gateway (request/response validation, auth)
- Proficiency querying and validating against CloudWatch Logs for distributed trace validation and failure analysis
- Strong Confluent Kafka experience as both a producer and consumer understanding of offsets, consumer groups, partitions, schema registries, and exactly-once semantics
- Solid CI/CD experience building and maintaining pipelines in Jenkins and/or GitLab Pipelines, including test parallelization and environment management
- Comfort working in cross-functional agile teams with shared ownership of quality
- Hands-on experience with Kafka or other streaming platforms.
- Solid understanding of AWS services (S3, Lambda, Step Functions, Gateway, CloudWatch, etc.).
- Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
