Qualifications

- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- 10 years of experience in chassis design, preferably in the two wheeler electric vehicle industry.

Job Summary

The Senior Chassis Design Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, and validation of vehicle chassis systems and structural components. The role involves managing end-to-end chassis design activities, ensuring compliance with performance, safety, quality, and cost targets while supporting current product development in the automotive/electric vehicle industry.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the design and development of vehicle chassis, frame structures, subframes, cross members, and mounting brackets.
- Develop 3D CAD models, detailed engineering drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOM).
- Perform design calculations and support CAE/FEA analysis for structural strength, durability, and crashworthiness.
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company design guidelines.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Vehicle Integration, Suspension, Powertrain, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Quality.




- Support prototype build, testing, validation, and production implementation.
- Conduct design reviews, DFMEA, tolerance stack-up analysis, and value engineering activities.
- Selection of the right material for structural parts following IS standards.
- Investigate engineering issues and implement design improvements for performance, manufacturability, and cost optimisation.
- Mentor junior design engineers and provide technical guidance throughout the product development cycle.
- Maintain engineering documentation, design revisions, and release processes.

Required Skills

- Proficiency in Creo.
- Strong knowledge of chassis structures, BIW interfaces, suspension integration, and breaking system vehicle packaging.
- Experience with GD&T;, DFMEA, DFA and engineering change management.
- Working knowledge of CAE/FEA tools such as ANSYS, HyperMesh, Abaqus, or OptiStruct. Ability to closely define the load cases to carry out the FEA simulations.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes including welding, fabrication, casting, forging, and sheet metal forming and tube bending.
- Familiarity with automotive standards and regulatory requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication skills.
