Role & responsibilities

- Develop, implement, and monitor the organization's Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and standards.
- Lead and promote a strong safety culture across manufacturing plants and ensure compliance with statutory and corporate safety requirements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations including the Factories Act, PESO, Pollution Control Board norms, OSHA principles, and other relevant EHS regulations.
- Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), HAZOP, Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and implement effective risk mitigation measures.
- Lead Process Safety Management (PSM) initiatives to prevent process-related incidents.
- Plan and conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and compliance assessments, ensuring timely closure of observations.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, and accidents using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) methodologies and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Develop and conduct safety induction programs, employee awareness sessions, behavioural safety initiatives, and contractor safety training.
- Prepare and maintain statutory records, safety documentation, emergency response procedures, permits, and regulatory reports.
- Lead emergency preparedness activities including mock drills, fire safety programs, evacuation plans, and crisis management.
- Ensure effective implementation of Permit to Work (PTW) systems including Hot Work, Confined Space Entry, Work at Height, Electrical Isolation, and LOTO procedures.
- Monitor occupational health initiatives,



industrial hygiene programs, PPE compliance, and employee wellness programs.
- Coordinate with production, maintenance, engineering, quality, utilities, and project teams to ensure safe plant operations.
- Participate in design reviews and new project implementation to ensure compliance with inherent safety principles.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to safety performance, behavioural safety, and environmental sustainability.
- Develop and monitor EHS KPIs, safety scorecards, and management reports for senior leadership.

Required Skills & Competencies

- Strong knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM).
- Hands-on experience in HAZOP, HIRA, JSA, PHA, Risk Assessment, and Safety Audits.
- Expertise in Permit to Work (PTW) systems and LOTO implementation.
- Thorough understanding of chemical process hazards and emergency response planning.
- Experience in fire safety systems, hazardous chemical handling, and industrial hygiene.
- Knowledge of statutory compliance under Factories Act, PESO, Pollution Control Board, and other applicable regulations.
- Familiarity with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, Responsible Care, and EHS management systems.
- Strong incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) skills.
- Experience in contractor safety management and behavioural safety implementation.
- Positive knowledge of emergency preparedness, disaster management, and crisis response.
- Excellent leadership, communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office and EHS reporting tools.
