Position description: The role involves overseeing the mechanical maintenance operations within the SMS Mechanical Maintenance department, specifically focusing on CCS1 Slab and Bloom Caster units at Jindal Stainless Limited. This position requires leadership in managing maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment performance, minimizing downtime, and enhancing operational efficiency in a high-demand mining and metals setting. The incumbent will coordinate with cross-functional teams to implement preventive and corrective maintenance strategies, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the mechanical maintenance team for CCS1 Slab and Bloom Caster units, ensuring adherence to maintenance schedules and operational targets.
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance plans to reduce equipment failures and extend machinery life.
- Coordinate with production and quality departments to align maintenance activities with operational requirements and minimize downtime.
- Monitor and analyze equipment performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions promptly.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies during all maintenance activities,
promoting a culture of safety and accountability.
- Manage spare parts inventory and procurement to support uninterrupted maintenance operations.
- Prepare and maintain detailed maintenance reports, documentation, and records for audit and review purposes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by evaluating maintenance processes and adopting best practices and new technologies.
- Train and mentor maintenance staff to enhance technical skills and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with engineering teams for root cause analysis and implementation of long-term solutions for recurring mechanical issues.
