Role & responsibilities

1. Safety Management

- Ensure implementation of EHS policies, procedures, and secure work practices.
- Monitor compliance with statutory safety regulations.
- Conduct daily plant safety inspections.
- Ensure safe operation of machinery and equipment.
- Promote a Zero Accident culture across the organization.

2. Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA)

- Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) for all plant operations.
- Prepare and review Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
- Implement risk control measures.
- Periodically review risk registers.
- Track closure of identified hazards.

3. Incident Investigation

- Investigate accidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and unsafe conditions.
- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Maintain accident and incident records.
- Monitor effectiveness of corrective actions.

4. Fire & Emergency Management

- Conduct Fire Fighting training programs.
- Organize mock drills.
- Ensure maintenance of fire extinguishers, hydrants, alarms, sprinklers, and emergency equipment.
- Maintain Emergency Response Plan (ERP).
- Coordinate with external emergency agencies.

5. First Aid & Occupational Health

- Ensure availability of First Aid Boxes and trained First Aiders.
- Conduct First Aid awareness programs.
- Coordinate employee health check-ups.
- Monitor occupational health risks.
- Ensure proper PPE usage throughout the plant.

6. Safety Audits

- Conduct Internal Safety Audits.
- Participate in statutory inspections.
- Conduct Behaviour Based Safety (BBS) observations.
- Perform contractor safety audits.
- Track audit findings until closure.

7. IMS (Integrated Management System)





- Support implementation and maintenance of Integrated Management System (IMS).
- Ensure compliance with:
- ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety)
- ISO 14001 (Environmental Management)
- Quality Management System requirements

- Prepare documents for internal and external audits.

8. IATF 16949 Compliance

- Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 EHS-related requirements.
- Support customer audits.
- Participate in Layered Process Audits (LPA).
- Ensure implementation of corrective actions arising from audits.

9. Environmental Management

- Monitor waste segregation and disposal.
- Ensure hazardous waste management compliance.
- Monitor air, water, and noise pollution.
- Coordinate environmental monitoring activities.
- Promote energy conservation initiatives.

10. Statutory Compliance

- Ensure compliance with:
- Factories Act
- State Factory Rules
- Fire Safety Regulations
- Pollution Control Board requirements
- Hazardous Waste Rules
- Occupational Health & Safety regulations

- Maintain all statutory registers and records.
- Coordinate inspections with government authorities.

11. Training & Awareness

- Conduct Safety Induction for new employees.
- Organize monthly toolbox talks.
- Conduct EHS awareness programs.
- Train employees on:
- HIRA
- PPE
- Fire Fighting
- First Aid
- Emergency Evacuation
- Chemical Safety
- Permit to Work (PTW)
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Working at Height
- Confined Space Safety

Documentation & Reporting

- Prepare monthly EHS MIS reports.
- Maintain:
- HIRA records
- Incident reports
- Safety inspection reports
- Training records
- PPE records
- Fire equipment records
- Audit reports
- Compliance reports

- Present EHS performance in management review meetings.

13. Contractor Safety

- Ensure contractor safety induction.
- Verify work permits.
- Monitor contractor compliance with safety requirements.
- Conduct contractor safety audits.

14. Continuous Improvement

- Implement Kaizen initiatives in safety.
- Drive 5S activities.
- Promote Behaviour Based Safety (BBS).
- Improve safety culture through employee engagement.
- Recommend engineering and administrative controls for risk reduction.

Preferred candidate profile

Experience:

36 Years in Automotive Manufacturing

Qualification:

- B.E./B.Tech (safety/Environmental) or Diploma in Engineering
- Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS) / PDIS / NEBOSH (Preferred)
- Certified First Aider (Preferred)
