Tech4Dev is building a structured Marketing and Communications function. This role is about building the function. The Head of MarCom will design and own the strategy, hire and lead a small internal team (1 2 people spanning marketing and communications), and manage an external agency/partners that serves as the execution arm for graphics, video, and content production. This is a leadership and builder role. You will establish processes, set direction, manage internal talent and external partners, and also roll up your sleeves on high-value marketing work. The function you build will sit at the intersection of brand, demand generation, RevOps, and thought leadership and will directly support Tech4Dev's business development, fundraising, and sector visibility goals.
Responsibilities
- Build Lead the MarComs Vertical
- Stand up Tech4Devs MarComs function structure, processes, team, and agency relationships
- Hire and manage 1 2 internal team members (product marketing and communications focus)
- Onboard and direct an external comms agency for graphics, video, and content at scale
- Strategy, Brand Marketing
- Own the annual MarCom strategy; define brand narrative and platform-specific messaging for Tech4Dev's portfolio (Glific, Dalgo, Kaapi, fractional CxO, cohort programs)
- Build a structured marketing approach tools, funnel design, demand generation, and audience segmentation
- Map and tailor outreach for key audiences: NGOs, CSOs, funders, government, and media
- Content Thought Leadership
- Build a content pipeline with program leads; oversee production of case studies, reports, op-eds, and social content
- Craft compelling narratives and messages that align with the marketing and communications needs of each initiative translating complex technical concepts into accessible, impact-driven storytelling
- Identify and pitch editorial opportunities; shepherd pieces from idea to publication
- Guide leadership content LinkedIn posts, speaking bios, event remarks
- Fundraising Donor Communications
- Develop and maintain fundraising assets - pitch decks, donor briefs and reports, and grant communication materials
- Tailor messaging for different funder types: institutional donors, philanthropies, CSR partners, and government
- Support leadership in preparing for funder conversations
- Events Sector Visibility
- Own Tech4Devs events and conference calendar - identify relevant sector convenings, manage speaking submissions, and coordinate participation
- Organise and support roundtables, webinars, and sector convenings where Tech4Dev plays a convening role
- Build and maintain relationships with sector media, conference organisers, and thought leadership platforms
- Cross-functional Collaboration

- Manage media relationships; own website, social channels, and SEO
- Partner with BD, sales, and fundraising teams to align MarComs with pipeline and funding goals
- Set and track MarComs KPIs; report quarterly and optimise based on performance
Requirements
- 10+ years in marketing and communications; 5 years in a senior leadership or head-of-function role
- Demonstrated experience building or scaling a MarComs function
- Experience managing internal teams and external agencies simultaneously
- Familiarity with the development, social impact, or tech-for-good sector
- Experience with pipeline-aligned marketing , demand generation, or marketing funnel design
- Strong writing skills; experience briefing and managing creative/comms agencies
- Prior experience in a tech-focused non-profit, CSR team, or social enterprise
- Experience developing fundraising assets pitch decks, donor briefs, impact reports
- Existing relationships with sector media, conference organisers, or thought leadership platforms
- Exposure to AI/data narrative-building, or comfort communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Experience with publication or report production editing, design coordination, launch strategy

Compensation
Compensation: Commensurate with experience. Location: Remote (quarterly sprint or events related travels will be required)
