JOB DESCRIPTION: Team Leader, Research and Development

Sunshield Chemicals Limited, a company listed on the BSE, is engaged in the manufacture and sale of a wide range of specially formulated and customized products with applications across diverse sectors like Home & Personal Care, Industrial Formulations, Paints & Coatings, Agrochemicals etc. The Company is a leading player in the surfactant and specialty functional chemicals business, with deep experience in handling critical processes like alkylation, ethoxylation, and blending.

Objective:

The Research and Technology department oversees research activities aimed at developing market-driven and knowledge-based products. The R&D; Team Leader will head a dedicated research team, spearheading new product development (NPD) from concept to commercialization. This role focuses on driving high-impact innovation in advanced surface chemistry, polymer design, and process optimization.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:

- Technical Leadership & NPD: Lead, design, and guide laboratory synthesis and formulation experiments for new surfactants and specialty chemical derivatives.

- Core Chemistry Execution: Drive research initiatives focusing on Ethoxylation, Sulfonation, Alkoxylation, and Organic Synthesis.

- Specialized Product Development: Spearhead the design, characterization, and synthesis of Polymeric Surfactants and Polymeric Dispersants.

- Concept to Plant Scale: Oversee tech-transfer validation, application testing, and analytical method development to ensure robust product commercialization on a plant scale.

- Process & Manufacturing Excellence:



Support plant process improvements and efficiency optimization for ethoxylation, sulfonation, and antioxidant manufacturing streams.

- Quality & Characterization: Interpret advanced surface chemistry metrics and analytical data to ensure all newly developed products seamlessly align with internal and international quality standards.

- Documentation & Compliance: Manage comprehensive records of development projects, technical data sheets, ISO compliance, and complete statutory REACH regulation protocols.

- EHS Advocacy: Enforce rigid company and statutory Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) guidelines to ensure a secure, high-performing laboratory workflow.

Education:

- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from a recognized university (Strictly Required).

Work Experience:

- 4 to 5 years of hands-on experience in an industrial Manufacturing facility or a corporate R&D; center.
- Direct, verifiable involvement in Recent Product Development (NPD) and scaling up surfactant systems.

Technical Competencies Required:

- Mastery over Surface Chemistry, Ethoxylation, and Sulfonation mechanisms.

- Strong synthesis background in Polymeric Surfactants & Polymeric Dispersants.

- Proven capability driving projects from the initial laboratory concept to full plant-scale commercialization.

- Advanced analytical mindset with deep execution skills in synthetic organic chemistry.

- Natural leadership capabilities to mentor, align, and manage a team of R&D; executives.
