Job Summary

The Senior Resident in Obstetrics & Gynecology is responsible for providing comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care to womenmanaging obstetric and gynecological emergenciesassisting and performing surgeriessupervising junior residents and internsparticipating in academic activitiesand ensuring high standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities Clinical Responsibilities

- Assessdiagnoseand manage obstetric and gynecological patients.
- Conduct antenatalintrapartumand postnatal care.
- Manage labor room activities and obstetric emergencies.
- Perform normal vaginal deliveries independently.
- Assist and perform cesarean sections and gynecological surgeries as per competency.
- Manage gynecological OPD and emergency cases.
- Provide family planning and reproductive health services.
- Counsel patients and families regarding diagnosistreatmentand preventive care.

Emergency Duties
- Manage obstetric emergencies such as:
- Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH)
- Eclampsia
- Shoulder dystocia
- Obstructed labor
- Sepsis

- Manage gynecological emergencies including:

- Ectopic pregcy
- Ovarian torsion




- Acute pelvic pain
- Heavy uterine bleeding

Surgical Responsibilities
- Perform or assist in:
- Cesarean section
- Hysterectomy
- Dilation and Curettage (D&C;)
- Dilatation and Evacuation (D&E;)
- Tubectomy
- Laparotomy
- Basic laparoscopic procedures (based on institutional policy and competence)

Academic Responsibilities
- Teach and supervise junior residentsinternsand undergraduate students.
- Present seminarsjournal clubsmortality meetingsand case discussions.
- Participate in departmental CMEsauditsand research activities.
- Assist in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programs.

Administrative Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and infection control protocols.
- Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate with nursing staff and other specialties for multidisciplinary care.
