Preferred Candidate Profile Resident Medical Officer (RMO)

- Qualification: MBBS from an NMC-recognized medical college.
- Registration: Valid registration with the State Medical Council/NMC.
- Experience: 0–3 years of hospital experience preferred; candidates with experience in Cardiology, CCU, ICU, Emergency Medicine or Critical Care will be preferred.
- Strong knowledge of emergency management and basic critical care.
- Competent in BLS/ACLS, with ACLS certification preferred.
- Ability to assess and manage patients independently within the scope of RMO responsibilities.
- Positive knowledge of ECG interpretation, particularly recognition of STEMI, NSTEMI, arrhythmias and life-threatening ECG changes.
- Ability to recognize and promptly manage acute coronary syndrome, cardiac arrhythmias, acute heart failure, shock and other cardiovascular emergencies.
- Familiarity with ventilators, defibrillators, infusion pumps, monitors and other ICU/CCU equipment.
- Positive communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong documentation and clinical record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in 247 rotational shifts.
- Team-oriented approach with effective coordination with consultants, nursing staff, technicians and hospital administration.
- Professional, disciplined, ethical and patient-focused attitude.

Role & Responsibilities – RMO

1. Patient Care

- Conduct initial assessment of patients admitted to the ward, CCU, ICU and emergency department.
- Monitor patients' vital signs, clinical status and treatment response.
- Identify deterioration early and immediately escalate to the concerned consultant.
- Assist consultants during rounds and implement prescribed treatment plans.
- Ensure timely administration of medications, investigations and supportive treatment.

2. Cardiology & Emergency Care

- Perform initial evaluation of patients presenting with chest pain, breathlessness,



syncope, palpitations and other cardiac complaints.
- Recognize and initiate appropriate management for ACS/STEMI, arrhythmias, acute pulmonary edema, cardiogenic shock and cardiac arrest.
- Perform and interpret basic ECGs and promptly communicate significant abnormalities to the cardiologist.
- Assist in CPR, ACLS, defibrillation and emergency stabilization as clinically indicated.
- Assist in preparation and stabilization of patients undergoing CAG, PCI, temporary/permanent pacemaker implantation and other cardiac procedures.

3. CCU/ICU Responsibilities

- Continuous monitoring of critically ill patients.
- Monitor ECG, SpO, BP, respiratory status, urine output and other relevant parameters.
- Assist with ventilator management and care of patients requiring non-invasive or invasive respiratory support.
- Manage IV medications, infusion pumps and emergency medications as directed.
- Ensure proper functioning and availability of emergency equipment.

4. Documentation

- Maintain accurate and timely case sheets, progress notes, medication charts, investigation records and discharge summaries.
- Document all significant clinical events and interventions.
- Ensure proper handover between shifts.
- Maintain appropriate records for insurance/TPA and government schemes such as PM-JAY, wherever applicable.

5. Coordination & Communication

- Coordinate closely with the Consultant Cardiologist, nursing staff, cath lab team, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy and other departments.




- Communicate changes in patient condition promptly to the concerned consultant.
- Explain routine treatment-related information to patients and attendants within the RMO's scope of responsibility.
- Ensure smooth communication during shift handovers.

6. Emergency & Code Blue Duties

- Respond immediately to emergency calls and Code Blue situations.
- Initiate BLS/ACLS protocols as appropriate.
- Ensure emergency drugs, defibrillator, airway equipment and crash cart are ready and functional.
- Assist in stabilization and transfer of critically ill patients when required.

7. Hospital & Administrative Responsibilities

- Follow hospital SOPs, infection-control protocols and patient-safety policies.
- Ensure compliance with applicable NMC/state medical council standards and hospital policies.
- Maintain professional conduct and patient confidentiality.
- Report adverse events, medication errors, equipment failures and safety concerns to the appropriate authority.
- Participate in departmental meetings, training programs and quality-improvement activities.
