Position: QC & Design Engineer

Industry: Automotive Manufacturing / Auto Components
Department: Quality & Design Engineering
Reports To: Engineering Manager / Plant Head
Location: Auto Tech Industries

Job Summary

Auto Tech Industries is seeking a detail-oriented and technically proficient QC & Design Engineer to oversee product quality while supporting the design and development of automotive components. The role involves ensuring compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and internal quality requirements, while contributing to product design improvements, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control (QC)

- Inspect raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Prepare and maintain quality inspection plans, checklists, and inspection reports.
- Conduct dimensional inspections using precision measuring instruments such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and CMM (where applicable).
- Perform root cause analysis for quality issues using tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone Diagram, and Pareto Analysis.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and monitor their effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 quality management standards.
- Coordinate with production, suppliers, and customers to resolve quality concerns.
- Maintain quality documentation, calibration records, inspection reports, and traceability records.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.





Design Engineering

- Develop and modify 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo).
- Prepare manufacturing drawings, Bill of Materials (BOM), and engineering change documents.
- Support new product development and engineering change management.
- Review customer drawings and specifications for manufacturability.
- Coordinate with production teams during prototype development and product validation.
- Suggest design improvements to enhance manufacturability, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Assist in DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow Diagram preparation.
- Ensure compliance with applicable automotive standards and customer requirements.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, or Production Engineering.
- 1-2 years of experience in quality control and design engineering within the automotive or auto-component industry.
- Freshers with strong CAD and quality fundamentals may also be considered.

Technical Skills

- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or Creo.
- Knowledge of GD&T; (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Familiarity with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and Control Plans.




- Knowledge of IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Hands-on experience with precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, welding, sheet metal, or assembly.

Preferred Certifications

- Internal Auditor ISO 9001 / IATF 16949
- GD&T; Certification
- Six Sigma Green Belt (preferred)
- CAD Software Certification (SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or AutoCAD)

Working Conditions

- Manufacturing and shop-floor setting with regular interaction across production, quality, and design teams.
- May require occasional travel for customer visits, supplier audits, or project support.
