CAI Business Units and the Markets We Serve
CAI Software is organized into three business units - Graphic Communications, Process Manufacturing, and Discrete Manufacturing aligned to the markets we serve. This structure allows our teams to stay close to customer needs while operating with the scale and support of a global software company.
This role is part of our Process Manufacturing business unit, which provides ERP and operational software to manufacturers that transform raw materials into finished goods through formulas, recipes, or batch-driven processes. We work with small to enterprise manufacturers across industries such as food and beverage, bottling, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, chemicals, paint, paper, tile, and supply chain logisticssupporting end-to-end operations from sourcing through production and distribution.

About the Role
Join a tight-knit development team building integration capabilities across our Process Manufacturing platform.
You will design and implement connections between CAIs products and third-party systemsERPs, lab systems, IoT platforms, and customer data sourcesthat allow manufacturers to operate with a unified data picture. You will collaborate in an apprenticeship-style environment with senior developers, gaining deep product knowledge while owning meaningful integration work from day one. We work with .NET 8+ across a variety of applications, using Visual Studio 2022 and Git, and expect you to move confidently across our codebase. Over your first year youll absorb our architecture, contribute to core initiatives, and eventually mentor newer teammates. All you need is strong .NET experience, a systems-integration mindset, and overlap with U.S. Pacific time for smooth collaboration.
The Software Engineer - Integrations responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with senior developers on integration initiatives across CAIs process manufacturing product suite
- Design, implement, and refactor C#/.NET 8+ code for REST APIs, event-driven connectors, and reusable integration frameworks
- Participate in sprint planning to scope and estimate integration tasks
- Stay organized with work item management and proactively communicate progress and blockers to teammates
- Submit pull requests for your own features and review peers PRs, ensuring code quality and integration contract consistency
- Become a product expert by understanding the existing codebase, the product data structures, and the systems we connect to
- Triage and resolve customer-reported integration failures (no on-call rotation)
- Contribute ideas to existing designs and suggest improvements as you become familiar with the product
What Youll Do
- Design, build,
and maintain REST APIs and event-driven integrations between CAI products and external systems (ERPs, LIMS, WMS, IoT, etc.).
- Build and extend reusable integration frameworks that can be adopted across product lines.
- Write integration and contract tests to validate data flows between systems.
- Document integration patterns, authentication flows, and data contracts for internal and customer use.
- Participate in sprint planning and communicate integration design tradeoffs clearly to teammates and stakeholders.
- Leverage AI-assisted development toolsincluding Claude Codeto accelerate coding, code review, and documentation tasks as part of our standard development workflow.
- What Were Looking For
- 4+ years of skilled C#/.NET development demonstrating rapid growth and initiative
- Expert fluency in modern .NET (5+) and Visual Studio 2022; strong understanding of OOP design and API design patterns
- Experience building REST APIs, webhooks, or message-queue integrations in C#/.NET
- Familiarity with integration patterns: pub/sub, ETL, API gateways, OAuth, and API versioning
- Proficiency with JSON, XML, and common data exchange formats (EDI, flat-file) • Strong logical and analytical thinking; comfortable mapping data contracts across systems
- Availability for at least 4 hours daily overlap in U.S. Pacific Time
- • Reliable internet connection to participate in working sessions with screen share
Nice to have:
- Experience with middleware platforms (MuleSoft, Azure Integration Services, Boomi, or similar)
- Exposure to manufacturing data contexts (ERP, MES, SCADA)
- Familiarity with async messaging (Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ, Kafka)
- Familiarity with Claude Code or similar AI-assisted development tools.
