Key Responsibilities

- Assist General Surgeons during OPD consultations, ward rounds, emergency assessments, and surgical procedures.
- Conduct detailed patient history taking and clinical assessments under the supervision of consultants.
- Prepare patients for surgical procedures and ensure all pre-operative investigations and documentation are complete.
- Monitor patients before and after surgery, documenting clinical progress and reporting any abnormal findings promptly.
- Assist in wound assessment, dressing changes, suture removal, drain management, and post-operative care.
- Coordinate admissions, transfers, discharges, referrals, and follow-up appointments.
- Prepare discharge summaries, operative notes, case summaries, and other clinical documentation as directed by the consultant.
- Review laboratory reports, radiology findings, and other diagnostic investigations, escalating critical findings to the treating surgeon.
- Participate in emergency surgical cases and provide immediate support during trauma and acute surgical emergencies.
- Educate patients and their families regarding surgical procedures, treatment plans, medication compliance, wound care, rehabilitation, and follow-up instructions.
- Ensure adherence to infection prevention and control practices,



patient safety protocols, and hospital quality standards.
- Maintain accurate and timely Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and patient documentation.
- Coordinate with Nursing, ICU, Anaesthesia, Radiology, Laboratory, and other multidisciplinary teams for seamless patient management.
- Assist in obtaining informed consent and ensure all required documentation is completed before procedures.
- Participate in departmental clinical meetings, audits, quality improvement initiatives, and Continuing Medical Education (CME) activities.
- Ensure compliance with NABH standards, hospital policies, ethical guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
- Support consultants in research activities, data collection, presentations, and clinical audits whenever required.
- Perform any additional clinical responsibilities assigned by the Head of Department or treating consultant.

Eligibility Criteria

- Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant (BPA/B.Sc. Physician Assistant) from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience as a Physician Assistant in General Surgery or any Surgical Specialty in a reputed hospital.
