Security & Firewall (Recommended)

- Basic ACL configuration in switching and routing environments.
- AAA concepts:
- RADIUS
- TACACS+
- Firewall knowledge (recommended):
- Sophos Firewall
- Basic understanding of:
- Firewall policies
- NAT
- VPN concepts
- Basic understanding of network automation concepts.
- Exposure to scripting or tools for:
- Configuration backup
- Monitoring automation
- Willingness to learn automation frameworks
- Understanding of:
- ILL, MPLS, and Internet links
- Redundant links and high availability
- Rack, stack, and cabling basics
- Awareness of data center operational practices
- Experience working in 24x7 shift-based NOC operations

Certifications (Preferably)

- CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate)
- JNCIA or equivalent networking certification
- Firewall certification (Sophos or equivalent)




- ITIL Foundation (added advantage)Key Responsibilities
- Monitor ISP, backbone, and data center networks using NOC monitoring tools
- Handle alerts, incidents, and service requests via ticketing systems
- Perform initial troubleshooting of Layer 2 and basic Layer 3 issues
- Escalate issues to L2/L3 teams as per defined escalation matrix
- Coordinate with ISPs, ILL providers, and vendors for link-related issues
- Track SLA, uptime, MTTR, and ensure timely resolution of incidents
- Prepare and maintain:
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Network outage and incident reports
- Daily/weekly NOC reports
- Follow change management procedures during configuration and maintenance activities
- Support firmware/IOS upgrades and scheduled maintenance windows
- Maintain configuration backups and assist in restoration during failures
- Ensure adherence to NOC operational processes and best practices

Technical Skills Required:

- Experience with NOC/Network Monitoring tools:
- NIMS
- SNMP
- NetFlow
- Alert handling, threshold monitoring, and dashboard analysis
- Basic packet analysis using Wireshark

Switching (Strong Knowledge)

- VLANs, Trunking (802.1Q), and Access Ports
- Spanning Tree Protocol (STP)
- EtherChannel
- CDP / LLDPR
