Job Description: A Purchase Officer in steel manufacturing manages end-to-end procurement of raw materials (iron ore, coal, scrap, steel coils), machinery spares, and industrial consumables. They minimize costs while ensuring uninterrupted plant production through strategic vendor negotiations and inventory tracking. Key Responsibilities

- Strategic Sourcing: Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers for core raw materials and operational consumables.
- Procurement Operations: Manage the entire purchase cycle: issue inquiries, prepare and track Purchase Orders (POs) using internal ERP systems, and monitor timely deliveries.
- Cost Optimization & Negotiation: Negotiate the best prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules to align with budget targets.
- Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels to prevent production shortages and collaborate with the warehouse/stores teams for stock reconciliation.
- Vendor Management: Maintain solid relationships with vendors,



ensuring compliance with company quality standards and delivery timelines.
- Documentation & Compliance: Maintain records of price comparisons, prepare MIS reports, and follow up on vendor invoices and GST documentation.

Ideal Candidate Profile
- Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Commerce (B.Com) or a Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: Typically 2 to 5 years of procurement or supply chain experience, specifically within the steel, metal, or fabrication industries.
- Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with ERP systems (like SAP or Oracle) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Tally.
- Core Competencies: Strong analytical skills, commercial awareness, and excellent negotiation abilities.
