- Job Summary

The Brick Plant Operator/Manager is responsible for overseeing the production of fire bricks/refractory bricks used in steel plant operations. The role includes managing daily production activities, ensuring quality standards, maintaining machinery, controlling raw materials, and achieving production targets safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Management
- Plan and supervise daily brick manufacturing operations (mixing, molding, drying, firing).
- Ensure smooth functioning of brick kilns and related equipment.
- Monitor production output to meet steel plant consumption requirements.
- Optimize production processes to reduce waste and improve efficiency.

2. Quality Control

- Ensure bricks meet required standards for heat resistance, density, and durability.
- Conduct regular inspection and testing of raw materials and finished products.
- Coordinate with quality assurance teams of steel plant.

3. Raw Material & Inventory Management

- Manage procurement and usage of clay, alumina, silica, and other refractory materials.
- Maintain proper inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods.
- Minimize material wastage and ensure cost control.

4. Maintenance & Equipment Handling

- Oversee maintenance of brick presses, mixers, dryers, and kiln systems.
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance with engineering team.
- Ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently.

5. Manpower Management

- Supervise operators,



helpers, kiln workers, and technicians.
- Train workers on secure operating procedures and quality standards.
- Allocate work schedules and monitor performance.

6. Safety & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with industrial safety norms and environmental regulations.
- Maintain proper handling of high-temperature kiln operations.
- Conduct safety training and enforce PPE usage.

7. Reporting & Documentation

- Maintain production reports, downtime records, and material consumption data.
- Report performance metrics to senior management.
- Support audits and inspections.

Required Qualifications

- Diploma / Degree in Mechanical, Ceramic Technology, or Industrial Engineering (preferred)
- Experience in refractory brick manufacturing or ceramic industry
- For Manager: 5–10 years experience; For Operator/Supervisor: 2–5 years experience

Key Skills

- Knowledge of kiln operations and refractory materials
- Production planning and process optimization
- Equipment troubleshooting
- Leadership and manpower management
- Safety compliance in high-temperature operations

Preferred Experience

- Experience in steel plant refractory/brick unit
- Familiarity with tunnel kilns, shuttle kilns, or rotary kilns
- Understanding of steel furnace lining materials
