Job Description: An Engineer, Quality in a Steel Melt Shop (SMS) and Rolling Mill ensures product quality by monitoring production, ensuring adherence to standards, and leading improvement initiatives. This role involves collaborating with production and quality control teams to maintain rolling temperature, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish, and may also include documentation, troubleshooting, and implementing preventative measures for quality assurance. Key responsibilities

- Quality Monitoring: Ensure adherence to all quality standards for rolling mill operations, including rolling temperature, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with metallurgical, quality control, and production teams to identify and implement process improvements to enhance product quality and reduce defects.
- Problem Solving: Investigate quality issues and non-conformities, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of quality control activities, audits, and production metrics. Prepare reports on product quality and performance.
- Quality Assurance Systems: Implement and maintain quality assurance systems, such as ISO 9001,



within the rolling mill and SMS.
- Training and Enforcement: Provide training to production and maintenance staff on quality control procedures and ensure consistent enforcement of quality standards.
- Coordination: Work closely with the SMS (Steel Melt Shop) and rolling mill operations teams to ensure the quality of the input material and the final rolled product.

Required skills and qualifications
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of steel manufacturing processes, rolling mill operations, and quality control principles.
- Experience: Experience with quality assurance and control in a steel rolling mill setting.
- Skills: Problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills are essential for effective collaboration and problem resolution.
- Tools: Proficiency in using quality management software and tools for data analysis and reporting.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related field is typically required.
