A trainee engineer's responsibilities include:

- Assisting with engineering projects Trainee engineers help with the design, development, testing, and commissioning of products, systems, and equipment. They may also help with the maintenance of engineering equipment.
- Researching and developing projects Trainee engineers may research and develop new engineering projects and ideas. They may also research current materials and methods.
- Observing and improving Trainee engineers observe engineering methods and practices, and offer recommendations for improvement. They may also observe existing strategies and techniques.




- Compiling data Trainee engineers may compile project data to create reports for managers and other stakeholders.
- Attending meetings Trainee engineers may attend meetings to learn about project requirements, timelines, and budgets.
- Maintaining compliance Trainee engineers may maintain compliance with health and safety guidelines.
- Working with others Trainee engineers may work in teams with other professionals, such as technicians, engineers, and managers. They may also assist other engineers or managers as needed.
- Completing tasks Trainee engineers may complete all tasks set by their supervisor.
