Job Description: A Mechanical Fitter in a steel manufacturing company installs, maintains, and repairs heavy industrial machinery (rolling mills, furnaces, cranes) to ensure optimal production efficiency. Key duties include interpreting technical blueprints, fabricating/assembling metal parts, performing routine preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting hydraulic or pneumatic systems in high-temperature, hazardous environments. Key Responsibilities

- Maintenance & Repairs: Perform preventive, breakdown, and shutdown maintenance on heavy steel plant machinery, including conveyors, motors, and hydraulic systems.
- Assembly & Installation: Assemble and align heavy machinery, structural components, and piping systems according to engineering specifications.
- Fabrication: Cut, shape, and weld metal components using hand tools, power tools, cutting torches, and welding equipment.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose mechanical failures and implement repairs to minimize production downtime.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict safety protocols (PPE, lockout/tag-out)

- Inspection: Conduct routine inspections of machines to ensure safety and performance.

Required Skills and Qualifications

- Education: ITI Fitter or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience: 3–5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably within a steel plant or heavy engineering industry.
- Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in reading technical drawings, understanding hydraulic/pneumatic systems, and operating precision tools.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to work in challenging, hot, and, at times, confined spaces.

Preferred Experience

- Experience with steel rolling mills (hot or cold) and continuous casting machines.
- Basic welding (ARC/Gas) and fabrication skills.
