Top 15 Key Responsibilities CAM Engineer (Aerospace)
Minimum 3–4 years of hands-on CNC machine operation and setup experience, with a solid understanding of machining practices.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on Mastercam programming experience, including programming of complex 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis aerospace components.
Expert knowledge of cutting tools, cutting parameters, machining strategies, tool life optimization, and process optimization.
Solid knowledge of machining aerospace materials such as Aluminium, Titanium, Inconel, Stainless Steel, Super Alloys, and engineering plastics.
Develop optimized CNC programs that achieve Right First Time (RFT) manufacturing with zero programming-related defects.
Design and optimize manufacturing processes, machining methods, operation sequences, and process documentation.
Design and develop fixtures, work-holding systems, clamping methods, and tooling solutions for complex aerospace components.
Well-versed in 5-axis machining, toolpath verification, simulation, collision avoidance, and machine kinematics.




Thorough understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T;, aerospace specifications, and customer quality standards.
Drive cycle time reduction, setup time reduction (SMED), productivity improvement, and machining cost optimization.
Support Current Product Introduction (NPI), First Article Inspection (FAI), process validation, and prove-out activities.
Troubleshoot machining issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement permanent corrective and preventive actions.
Work closely with Production, Quality, Tool Room, Planning, and Maintenance to ensure on-time delivery and manufacturing excellence.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, Poka-Yoke, and standardization.
Demonstrate strong technical leadership, mentoring CNC programmers and operators while ensuring compliance with AS9100 quality requirements, safety standards, and aerospace best practices.
