Roles and Responsibilities
Monitor and maintain the overall health and welfare of the dairy herd.
Diagnose, treat, and prevent diseases in cattle through timely medical intervention.
Develop and implement preventive healthcare programs, including vaccination, deworming, and biosecurity protocols.
Manage reproductive health, including artificial insemination (AI), pregnancy diagnosis, fertility management, and calving supervision.
Provide emergency veterinary care for sick or injured animals.
Monitor milk quality and support measures to reduce mastitis and other production-related diseases.
Advise on cattle nutrition and collaborate with the nutrition team to improve animal health, milk production, and feed efficiency.
Perform routine herd health checks and maintain accurate medical and treatment records.
Ensure compliance with animal welfare standards, food safety regulations, and veterinary best practices.
Investigate disease outbreaks and implement effective control measures.
Train farm staff on animal handling,
disease recognition, hygiene, and treatment protocols.
Coordinate laboratory testing and interpret diagnostic results.
Monitor calf health, growth, and vaccination schedules.
Analyze herd performance data and recommend strategies to improve productivity, fertility, and longevity.
Manage veterinary medicines, vaccines, and medical supplies, ensuring proper storage and inventory control.
Work closely with farm management to achieve production, health, and profitability goals.
