Role & responsibilities
Perform blood grouping, Rh typing, antibody screening, and cross-matching.
Collect, process, label, and store blood and blood components as per standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Ensure proper storage conditions and monitor temperatures of blood storage equipment.
Perform compatibility testing before issuing blood and blood products.
Receive, inspect, and process donor blood units.
Maintain accurate documentation and records of blood collection, testing, inventory, and transfusion.
Conduct quality control procedures on laboratory equipment and reagents.
Ensure compliance with NABH, NACO, FDA (where applicable), and hospital policies.
Assist in investigating transfusion reactions and report findings appropriately.
Maintain inventory of blood units, reagents, and laboratory consumables.
Follow infection control, biomedical waste management, and laboratory safety protocols.
Coordinate with clinicians, nursing staff, and laboratory personnel to ensure timely availability of blood products.
Participate in internal and external quality assurance programs.
Preferred candidate profile
Knowledge of NABH and NACO guidelines.
Experience with automated blood bank analyzers.
Understanding of quality management systems in laboratory services.
