Iron & Steel Pipe Manufacturing

Role Summary

The Quality Head will be responsible for end-to-end quality assurance and control across the pipe manufacturing plant, ensuring product conformance to national/international standards (BIS/IS), driving rejection reduction, and building a robust quality culture among QC teams.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control & Process
Drive rejection control improvement (overall products %) through root-cause analysis and corrective actions
Ensure zero error in pipe size checking/validation
Ensure proper segregation of hold pipes (OK vs rejected category) at the mill
Reduce quality complaints (Export, Domestic & OEM) against defined targets

Manpower Handling & Team Management
Oversee shift-wise deployment and proper handling of QC Checkers
Ensure checkers follow the correct inspection framework and QC parameters
Conduct regular quality training for QC Checkers (tracked in man-days) to upgrade inspection capability

Safety
Champion zero-accident practices across the plant floor and QC areas

Audits & Compliance
Ensure smooth conduct of internal and external audits




Timely closure/processing of non-conforming components identified in audits
Ensure timely renewal of licenses (Indian/International BIS/IS Standards)

Qualifications & Experience
B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical/Metallurgy) or equivalent; additional Quality certifications (Six Sigma, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor) preferred
15+ years in quality functions within steel/pipe manufacturing
Robust knowledge of BIS/IS standards for steel pipes
Experience managing shift-based QC teams
