Key Responsibilities
Boiler Operations & Monitoring
Safely start up, operate, and shut down steam boilers (e.g., AFBC, oil/gas-fired, or WHRB) in strict accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Continuously monitor critical parameterssuch as steam pressure, temperature, water levels, and combustion draftto ensure maximum efficiency.
Operate and monitor auxiliary equipment including feed pumps, fans, de-aerators, and air compressors.
Respond promptly to alarms or emergency situations (e.g., low water levels, pressure fluctuations) to prevent plant disruptions.
Water Treatment & Chemical Management
Monitor and manage boiler feed water systems, including softeners and DM (Demineralized) water plants.
Conduct daily water sampling and testing (e.g., pH, hardness, TDS).
Dose necessary chemicals to prevent scale buildup, corrosion, and to maintain optimal steam purity.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Perform routine preventative maintenance (lubrication, cleaning, minor parts replacement) on valves, burners, and gauges.
Conduct blowdown operations to manage dissolved solids.
Identify and report major equipment malfunctions, leaks, or refractory wear to the maintenance team.
Safety, Compliance & Documentation
Ensure all boiler operations comply with the Indian Boiler Regulations (IBR) and strict OSHA safety protocols.
Meticulously log operational data (fuel consumption, steam generation, water quality) in shift logbooks.
Qualifications & Requirements
Certification: Valid 2nd Class Boiler Operator Certificate of Competency (issued by the respective State Boiler Directorate).
Experience: (2) to (5) years of hands-on experience operating high-pressure boilers, preferably in a chemical, petrochemical, or pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.
Technical Skills: Robust understanding of boiler water chemistry, thermodynamics, and mechanical/electrical troubleshooting.
Physical Requirements: Ability to withstand loud noise and high-temperature settings, work rotating shifts, and lift heavy equipment.
